Fits perfectly. It does have a trademark Alex tone (modern era). It's nice and angular and fits the song perfectly. I do think it's mixed a little low though!?
Anybody got any ideas about how the relationship came about? Who approached who? And what chance a PT support slot on the Snakes And Arrows European Tour? What a night that would be!!!

Wow, can't say I wasn't a bit surprised seeing Fear of a blank Planet on 16th place on the official Finnish album list. I've been telling people prog will come, and apparently people are finally listening to good music, despite Metallica is just above it. Anyway, I think it's great news for me at least. And, uh, the album really is great, so all those people won't be disappointed!

The solo fits great I think. I remember it live where that part had no solo, and the song is much better now that it is there.

Steve approached Alex after hearing he was a fan in an interview in Classic Rock. Steve had been interviewed by the same guy and used the journalist as a go-between.

BTW Wes hasnt quite nailed the solo yet....

Nice to see despite the monk's tonsure, expanding girth and middle-aged appreciation of fine wines, Alex is still down with the kids in his appreciation of PT.
Oh wait a minute, that's not Alex that's me.... Pinch

Got the deluxe addition over the weekend.Very nice but have to grumble about the packaging ..difficult to get the discs in and out of the cardboard sleeves. At least there are plastic sleeves that stop the discs getting scratched. I note its in NTSC format which I guess means  play.com have imported them from America (Europe is PAL format)

No they have only been released in NTSC. 95% of DVD players or TVs in Europe accept NTSC, whereas in N.America they only tend to be able to play NTSC.....its the same with Arriving Somewhere DVD -  that's only NTSC too!

It's a hit...sort of....
Latest from the PT website:

Fear of a Blank Planet is already Porcupine Tree's most successful album to date, with European first week sales and chart positions coming in much higher than anything ever achieved in the past. A big thank you from the band to all their fans for giving this new release so much support! The reviews have also been the best of the band's career.

United Kingdom : chart entry at #31
Germany : chart entry at #21
Italy : chart entry at #34
Netherlands : chart entry at #13
Norway : chart entry at #34
Finland : chart entry at #16
Poland : chart entry at #30

Congratulations to the band....Clap

The FOABP video is back up, this time on the Blank Planet Mini-Site:

It's the "uncensored" version by Lasse Hoile.

Takes a while to load, but it's worth it...

Umm am I the only one who ordered FOABP & Blackfield II together from Newburycomics and they were supposed to be signed? Mine aren't signed anywhere I can see...

Anyone know if the limited edition is still available?  Online somewhere?  It is sold out everywhere (at least in my state) and no one knows when they will be getting the copies that they have on backorder.

FOABP has hit the Billboard US Album Chart at  #59, that's not half bad! The blurb suggests that the album has just over 11000 sales - I find that difficult to believe.

BTW Opeth got to #64.

I ended up getting my copy on eBay as well for $42.00.  I consider that a good deal now that they are going for $60+.

The local store was suppose to have me a copy but they never received any and likely never will.

I guess this time, limited edition really means limited edition.
