Lewis Hamilton is barely out of nappies (diapers), but he could be a new British protegé.  He does go on about his ethnicity a bit too much though, as if it's special or something (I don't mean that in a racist way, obviously).  Fair play to him.

Watch Massa, hes going to have to fight through from 16th, should make it interesting.

Whatever happens I reckon its going to be a good race.

Tonight will be my last night home before I go back to school. F1 race in Australia, what a way to end it.

I say Alonso will continue from last year and win!

Kubica could have been higher but BMW messed up the last tyre change so he didnt get in his last run.

So Fernando will share the first row with Kimi, i think Alonso will win this first race...nice to see both BMW drivers within the top 5, though.

For those that havnt seen, here's the qualifying results:

1.  RAIKKONEN    Ferrari

2.  ALONSO       McLaren

3.  HEIDFELD     BMW

4.  HAMILTON     McLaren

5.  KUBICA       BMW

6.  FISICHELLA   Renault

7.  WEBBER       Red Bull

8.  TRULLI       Toyota

9.  SCHUMACHER   Toyota

10. SATO         Super Aguri
11. DAVIDSON     Super Aguri

12. ROSBERG      Williams

13. KOVALAINEN   Renault

14. BUTTON       Honda

15. WURZ         Williams

16. MASSA        Ferrari
17. BARRICHELLO  Honda

18. SPEED        Toro Rosso

19. COULTHARD    Red Bull

20. LIUZZI       Toro Rosso

21. SUTIL        Spyker
22. ALBERS       Spyker

I feel sorry for Massa, possibly the fastest car out there and his gearbox brakes on his fast lap in Q2. Great jobs from Hamilton and Sato though.

Barrichello is a better driver than Ralf though, I believe.

Ralf has had his chance at a title challenge and didnt even get close (in the Williams in 2003), were as Montoya would have won that year if engine failures hadnt cost him 2 wins. He's generally a quick driver but has far too many off days and is excruciatingly slow on them. He's in the Toyota because they pay him about £12 million a year (I think he;s the second highest payed driver  behind Raikkonnen).

Wurz did a damn good job in the Williams as third driver last year so replaces Weber for this year.

ESPECIALLY when Pruett was his teammate. Im sur[rised Chip Ganassi didnt fire him on the spot, he was much faster than Pruett and could have easily passed him in a lap or two without costing Pruett 3 more positions like he did. Anyways, thats gonna be short lived. I have a feeling that he is doomed for failure on the oval tracks.

Ganassi fireing MontoyaLOL, not a chance!

Montoya is a good oval driver, it'll just take him a little time to learn the ins-and-outs of NASCAR racing.

His highest finish on an oval so far is 38thStern%20Smile

He was 19th at Daytona with a busted 'box, he was 3rd on his ARCA debut last year (after qualifying 2nd and leading for part of the race) and is the  99 Champ Car World Series champion (back when a third of the calander was ovals) and the 2000 Indy 500 winner, so far his only attempt. He knows how to drive ovals but its going to take him several races, at least, before he gets fully up to speed in the Nextel Cup.

But don't forget that anybody and their brother can win in a Ganassi car. It will be an embarrassment if doesnt score an oval win this year, especially with all the hype around him.

I thought Ganassi were only a mid grid team in NASCAR, not one of the big name teams?

Certainly not a big name, but those boys know how to put a car together!

Montoya is not one of the best Oval drivers at all, he is not bad either, but anyway he could have better results in further races...

Those first practise times make me think that Ferrari is strong and want the team´s title this time..

OK, I think we've come to about the end of my knowledge on NASCAR now, but I still reckon Montoya will get to the top at some point.
