13 days  to be exact LOL.  I plan on bringing an extra suitcase and buying every damn RPI album I can get my hands on hahhaaha ..

Give me your top 5 or 10 current favs.. let me check them off vs. what I have and get them on my list if I don't.  Most interested in the 70's stuff but if there is a modern one you think I have to have.. put it on there.  Raff and Andrea Cortese have recommended some current ones that I have abolutely loved. Thanks all..

my fav of the '70's  artists/ bands are:

Hi all,

I would like to recommend the inclusion of the italian band Madrugada. They only released two albums between 1974 and 1977. I've just bought their second one titles "Incastro". It's one of the most crazy records I've ever heard!!!

The general mood of the album is avantguard but you also find a folk composition based on vocals (typical singing from the italian alps in dialect), a jazzy composition, an ethno percussions based (with vocal noises) experiment, a more conventional track with the help of Lucio Fabbri (ex PFM) on violin, an indo-prog raga-rock introduction for the song Katmandu, a more cosmic avantguard feel in the opener...what more a prog aficionado could ask for????

This is another worthy addition and I'm proud they're italian....Embarrassed

The album has been recently reissued by BTF in elegant papersleeve edition within three bonus tracks (three live versions). Highly recommended for all the avantguard prog fans!!!!

An impressive record for me also! Crazy and eclectic!

Well, I heard of them, but not them and after reading this, i am more than interested.

By the way, Italian friends, if it is Italian Avant you like, then for a modern band, go for Yugen (read my review if you like).

Oh and what about Braen's Machine and their unstable releases? Any thoughts of where to put them?

Assaf, I recently bought Ainur's debut. It's a good album inspired by The Silmarillion and if you like other works like Mandalaband's The Eye of Wendor you will be pleased. The general mood is commercial-new-ageish but the addition of typical 70s keyboards (moog and hammond) make it an interesting album not to mention some more harder parts in a more symphonic structure. Lyrics are sung in english.

I wonder who added that album without any bio or such. This is not the way to proceed, when we members of the Specialist Team work overtime in order to get all the relevant information before we add a band.

However, I should be getting the album in the next few days. The band have a website, where their bio could've been found - whoever added the band could've bothered to contact one of the speakers of Italian here (me, for instance), in order to get their bio translated or summarised. Confused

Edit: there is no bio on their website, but I hope to get one from the band itself, when they send me their CD (or I could drop them a line by email).

I have a question. I have heard and like Il Balletto Di Bronzo - Ys and PFM - Per Un Amico.

My question is: What RPI bands/albums should I get next?

Banco - Io Sono Nato Libero
PFM - L ´Isola di Niente
