Difficult to decide, but... The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.
For the same reason, The Lamia was near to win, togheter with In the Cage and It.

I actually love 'Back in NYC' as a perfect example of great but digestable prog. I have vague memories of it being played on FM radio in the early 80s when Genesis had made there pop comeback...imagine hearing it on the radio now? I doubt it. 'Lilywhite Lilith' is also great.

Of course I love the entire album but for some reason, FLY ON A WINDSHIELD still makes me feel goosebumps on my back... I know there are better songs on the album like ITC or The Lamia but FLY is one of the most extarordinary shorts songs that I've been heard and of course the lyrics are awsome...

Pretty much the whole thing is great. It kinda gets a bad reputation though, but it's my favorite Genesis album.

I think the album is good, but not the album it is touted to be by some. Easy 3.5-4 star album, though.
Back in NYC may be my favorite Genesis song altogether, so that gets my vote.

One of the few albums in which I don't like to choose a favorite song is The Lamb.
For God's sake, it's a conceptual album, every song is párt of the plot perfectly linked with the others and while I have one favorite song, I listen it from start to end always.
My vote is for IN THE CAGE,,,the most powerful lyrics in Prog, Peter manages to transmit all the anguish, pain and claustrophobia as a master and Tony's breathtaking organ goes perfectly.
Making people laugh or cry is common but transmiting panic and real one without using visual or sound effects, only with the lyrics and music, is very hard.

Slippermen is a great tune.
Back in NYC is horrible, Petes singing is unlistenable

"The Lamia" has always been my favorite. So beautiful!

And he took the stars
In his hands
And as he scattered them he’d shout
“I’m the joker of the universe
I’m what it’s all about”

It seems that I´m one of the few who prefers side 3 and 4 of the Lamb. But as most you say it is almost impossible to choose one song before another on this fantastic album.
In the cage, the piano on Anyway, Carpet Crawlers...hmmm.....I vote for Colony of Slippermen.

same here, slipperman is the best song and disc 2 has the edge over disc 1. Supernatural anaesthetist, Anyway, Lamia, Sliippermen, Riding the scree. All cool songs. Disc 1 has Grand parade, Cuckoo cucoon, Hairless heart, In the cage, Counting out time and Chamber of 32 doors. I think they're the only songs I really like from each disc. I can't stand Back in NYC, sounds ugly and dull.

Anyway!
I love the dramatic combination of vocals, drums and piano when the third verse begins.
