I was never serious about this poll I just wanted to have some fun playing with some ideas but lets face it there's some pretty dodgy prog metal around these days that's been included here on prog archives, I mean some of its great stuff but some is awful. (also questionable as to if its infact progressive anyway) So I thought why not bounce a few ideas around I think the decision has been made Slipknot won`t be opening for Symphony X any time soon !

I have said it before in this forum when Slipknot is mentioned, and am not afraid to say it again,I love Slipknot.I don't think they are in any way prog, but then again,I don't only listen to prog music, how boring that must be.I grew up loving Kiss,so Slipknot's theatricality really appeals to me,and I love their music,it's pretty brutal.I have seen them live quite a few times and they put on one hell of a live show, you definitely get your moneys worth.
Nu-metal,death metal,prog metal,heavy metal,doom metal,black metal.....WHO CARES WHAT IT'S CALLED???
It's ALL metal!!!!!I don't just like one sub-genre of it...but the whole genre itself.

i don´t like slipknot, it´s too violent, i like when the metal bands have some light or symphonic passages in their songs, like dream theater or symphony x...except in their last album. aaaaall de songs of slipknot are very very heavys, and i don´t like it...but the drummer it´s simply genial, one of the best i ever heard...

Their masks are probably the dumbest things I've ever seen. The drummer is okay for metal, I guess, but he uses way to much double bass with little rhythmic variation.

Their name was "Slip Not" at first, but then they slipped on the slippery grounds of music, cause they don't do music, and thus changed their name. At least they proved that they are able to learn. Now they should start to learn how to write music.

What's so bad about Slipknot? Before I knew what prog is Slipknot was one of my favorite bands. Their debut was great and the song IOWA was pretty creepy. I wouldn't mind listening to that song (or them) again if I had the chance.

Have you ever heard their debut Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat?
It is very different than subsequent releases, and blends a whole slew of different musical styles into their overall sound.Great album.
