I`m not a fan of Slipknot but on some level I do respect the drummer Joey  Jordison,  he is as progressive a drummer as half the prog metal drummers I have heard !  I feel the question needs to be asked is it possible slipknot could also be considered  as prog ?  Smile    I mean Joey Jordison is known as one of the best drummers these days  we should claim him as one of our own !  Evil Smile  Wink

am I serious or not ?    not sure ?   sain or not ?     not sure  ?    Confused

No!!!!!!!!!!!
The hand that signed the treaty bred a fever,
And famine grew, and locusts came;
Great is the hand that holds dominion over
Man by a scribbled name.

No.

Their songs are the musical equivalent of getting punched in the face repeatedly.

Sometimes, that's actually enjoyable, weirdly, so I listen to them once in a while, but I've never heard anything prog in their music.

You've got some balls asking that question.  You'll be lucky to still be living come tomorrow.  The PA Mafia's watching you.

...

Slipknot are pretty much the definition of nu-metal.  Their music is about as basic and unintelliget as the "metal" genre (which I don't even consider them a part of, but we'll lump them in with it for convenience's sake here) can get.  Joey Jordinson is an average drummer who somehow manages to impress people by having a massive kit and being able to aimlessly bash it really quickly.  If you want impressive metal drumming listen to Tomas Haake or Sean Reinert.

Quite a bit more I could poetentially add, but I think it can be easily summarized by quite simply saying... NO.

Once Slipknot gets in maybe we can look into the inclusion of Limp Bizkit?

Kevin Federline's new album should be included.... at least as Proto-Prog.

Don't forget Milli Vanilli... surely "Girl You Know It's True" had an undeniable impact on the evolution of the Zeuhl genre.

Crazy Frog was instrumental in progressing symphonic music in South America in the early 1970's.

What's even more important though is the omission of Vanilla Ice... the undisputable (and painfully undercredited) founder of the RIO movement.

His later stuff is awful though.

Yes, but you can't forget Blackjack who under the lead of Michael Bolton and Bruce Kulick courageously experimented with metal and were the true founders of Progressive Metal as we know it today.  They also of course paved the way for such masculine Prog-Metal legends as James LaBrie.

And of course the inclusion of Blackjack will make Michael Bolton's solo career an obvious  entry into the prog-related category... his solo career didn't always stay true to the prog spirit, but classics like Time, Love and Tenderness (best known for the 20 minute hammond solo that takes up the entire second side) make him as solid a prog-related candidate as you could think of.

Damn you.  You ruined our flow, man.  Bryan and I had some good vibes flowing between us.  Now it's dead.  Thanks, bro.
