You realise, of course, that this is impossible.

My favourite prog album TODAY is Happy Family - Toscco.. probably. I still have all evening to go back on this decision. ;)

Just one?
It would be called "Red Birds of Power and Glory Fire" by the Gentle King Mahavishnu Giant Crimson Orchestra.   Followed closely by anything by the f*cking champs and several from Voivod.   I don't know if I've seen the Power and the Glory on this list yet by Gentle Giant?  Simply amazing.

How about the best two minutes?
For me, probably the first two minutes of Close to the Edge by yes.

The best one minute?  Possibly the first minute of Birds of fire by Mahavishnu Orchestra.  Just for that dramatic  hit of the low -E on the guitar followed by that ascending guitar run...you might know what I mean.  Well, I think that's in the first minute.  For the gongs alone in the first ten seconds?

Also, the Wheel of Fortune LP by Joji Hirota, not known by many, but very, very awesome prog...and the album 1970s album by Arthur Verocai which is more funk/soul/jazz with prog touches, very, very amazing.

Sleepy

Hey, another TFC fan... [/QUOTE]

Oh yeah, they're crazy, bonkers, absolutely nuts.  I think the best thing to happen to prog and metal in the last 12 years.  Absolutely.  No question about it.  I may slightly be talking out of my ass from here on, but I think that their first album III in '97 (and they had some tapes before that) had a great deal to do with a  lot more bands stepping up their game a bit in terms of technicality and progginess.  I value them just as much as say, King Crimson, Mahvishnu Orchestra, and, how could I forget!  THE ALMIGHTY MAGMA!!!!!  (say, Attahk, Udu Wudu, etc)...Sleepy

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.
