hard rock/ metal
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I don't think death metal growling rock&rolls ;)

Agreed, Metal really isn't rock. It's rather Black Music with little rock influences, Slayer is a good example.

...

I like hard rock, power metal, melodic rock(journey, strangeways, magnum etc.)

After progrock/symphonic rock, my second passion is flamenco Heart , especially the guitar play like Paco De Lucia, Paco Pena, Juan Martin and Pepe Romero.
I am also delighted about the rock guitar like Jimmy Page, Brian May, Alvin Lee, Rory Gallagher, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Carlos Santana, Dave Edmunds, Brian Setzer ...Thumbs Up !

Industrial. And strange as it may seem, it indirectly  led me into prog.

EDIT: NO! Not Nine Inch Nails! I'm talking about Throbbing Gristle, Coil, Nurse With WOund, SPK, Einsturzende Neubauten, Foetus and the like.

i voted for indie/emo although don't like emo and failed to notice or understand the meaning of alternative which i may well have voted for.

People like Elliott Smith, Tom McRae, Tori Amos rule

Classic Rock with me, even when Classic is more a status achieved by certain bands than a sub-genre of Rock per se.
