I've heard alot of samples from them, aswell as seen a few live performances on youtube.
So, where to start with this band? Embarrassed

Thanks! Smile

I would start with Destroy,Erase,Improve or Chaosphere.

If you like those check out Nothing and Catch 33.I also urge you to check out their ep I,which is one song which clocks in at 20 minutes.

Destroy Erase Improve seconded. A classic album.

"Nothing" is my favorite by them, in fact they just re-released it.  Destroy Erase Improve is also great, and the "I" EP is stellar as well.  I wouldn't start with Catch 33, though.

the "I" ep is a good start as well... but sure, "Catch 33" is way more accessible.

I actually liked the samples from Catch 33 more than the stuff from "Destroy, Erase, Improve". Embarrassed

Chaosphere wins of all full length Meshuggah releases.

I is perhaps the best song they ever made and at 20 minutes is worth buying.

If you want to hear the more metal side of Meshuggah (while still incredibly progressive) check out Contradictions Collapse/None. Personally this might be my favorite release by them.

Also Rare Trax has a collection of a wide variety of their songs from the albums up to Chaosphere.

I personally don't care much for Nothing or Catch 33. (great title though)

They are pretty much Death by Organic Machine. Amazing I love Nothing 2

The songs on any one Meshuggah tend to be rather "samey", so I'd recommend getting "I". I think it's their most diverse effort, and sounds like several of their albums mixed into one 20+ minute epic.

It's not just a re-release ... they re-recorded the guitars as well. They claim that it sounds much better now (and more like they wanted it to sound like in the first place, but their producer disagreed).

I have the re-release,all the bass parts and guitar parts are re-recorded(with 8 string guitars).I think it sounds much better than the original release,I can hear a huge difference.

I guess...I dont know, its one of thouse bands I want to get into but just cant.
The singing, the riffs, the ultra heavyness...also, (and this might be wrong, as I have only heard a few songs) it all sounds pretty much the same for me...and to top it all, they give me headaches jejeje

But as I said before, I really respect them for their aproache to music
