I can't pick between the two; they're both great and not similar enough to compare.

going to even things out: KC; Yes is ok but just doesn't impress me or appeal to me as much as KC manages to do

Congratulations! You just won first prize in the "Incorrect statement
of the day" competition! You may enjoy Yes more, but KC are more
complex.

None of them is "better" than the other. What are the judging criteria?
From these two, I prefer King Crimson.

No contest here. Yes are in my top five groups (at their best) whilst I have never been a lover of Crimson. Too dissonant and pointlessly unmelodic at times.

Crimson is brilliant. And unlike Yes, they know how to make a good comeback. Three times.

Only Judging criteria is "Which band's you find more appealing to your ears" or something like that. Not like i"s Yes more complex" or things like that.
Why did i vote for King Crimson? I find their music much more eerie, comfortable for the years and their compositions are just more interresting. Yes gets a bit "Soulless" sometimes, but don't get me wrong, i love Yes.

King Crimson, Yes have never done anything for me.
BTW, how the hell do you compare these two bands?

King Crimson, but I don't really like either of them. I think they deserve credit for influence, but if you're looking for musical quality, I prefer Pink Floyd, Genesis, and Jethro Tull (among others) more.

Probably my two favourite bands! KC perhaps the more adventurous, the more consistent as well, but Yes at their very best - like Close to the Edge and Relayer - shade it for me.
