Fantasy art and prog rock seem to walk hand-in-hand in many ways. There are so many 70's albums that just wouldn't be the same without the work Roger Dean et al adorning the covers. Roger has been/continues to be a major influence in my feable attempts in the genre. I'm sure everyone here is delighted with his involvement in the forum.

Yep, I think I've sort of developed a relationship with Roger Dean myself.. Actually he's a really nice man. When he signed my print recently he wrote "Thanks Linda".. but in his style of writing it looks like it says "Tarkus Linda"... everyone commented that Roger must know me pretty well...
BTW.. I got to take a picture of Roger Dean with Gary Green of Gentle Giant

Roger made it easy to find prog albums at jumble sales and charity shops when I was a lad. Apart from the odd exception (Osibisa!!!) a Dean landscape often meant "give this LP a listen".
Yessongs was my first introduction to his art (when I was 11) and I think he defined a genre, clearing the way for Woodroffe and his ilk.
Well done Maani.

I'm not such a huge fan of his artwork... Relayer is cool, but Asia's first album?
But I know many people here love his stuff, so congrats for crimping him!

R.D. rocks! | In fact, he doesn't. He makes cool album-covers. As a matter of fact, if this Roger Dean-guy is a progfan, he's quite welcome. If not, than I commend him for the work he's done for our genre, but besides that the news leaves me deadcold. So I think he should be honoured to be on Progarchives.

First question: Can his Web business start shipping from the UK for those who live on this side of the Pond? (So that Customs & Excise don't interrupt the process and so that the shipping is cheaper.)
