Topic: Associating Prog with Seasons Posted: October 07 2006 at 21:18 |
I tend to associate different bands with different times of the year.
Yes makes me think of winter. I can remember listening to South Side of the Sky in my car freezing my ass off on the way to school (how fitting). Rush is most definitely summer music for me. Genesis makes me think of spring, as that's mostly what I listened to this spring. And when I say spring I mean rain.
Just a thought. Anyone else share similar experiences?

No, but it's a good observation. I like your choices but what of Autumn? How about National Health or Camel?

Opeth may make you think of the time you mentioned because of lyrics/song titles. Example: Demon of the Fall, and the beginning of the BWP album, "We entered winter once again", where I got my member name from.
Actually, Opeth had a pretty interesting season theme going on for three albums. MAYH was both spring and fall (april ethereal, demon of the fall), Still Life was summer ("The sigh of summer upon my return" at the beginning of The Moor), and BWP was the winter album, as evidenced by the lyric from The Leper Affinity I mentioned.
