Am I the only one who feel this band is overrated?. Has anyone noticed the overwhelming dullness and ordinary lines of every guitar in The Flower Kings catalogue?.
 
 Their music always tends to lose direction and strenght. Due to the lenght of the songs and more often, due to the ordinary aproach of their music when it comes to style and moods. Yet, when the music starts geting interesting there's always a guitar so predictable that makes me look away with the slightest distraction around.
 
 Am I the only one?. Please try to do more than posting your vote. Write something !!!. At least correct my grammar and spelling.

I find TFK a bit boring at the moment for some reason.I wouldn't say its just the guitar though...its all the music.

None of the choices applies. Stolt is an amazing guitarist and throughout the TFK albums as well as his own solo albums there are many beautiful guitar melodies. On the other hand there *are* some bland melodies as well.

In my opinion the guitar solos are not such a terrible problem; it's the lead vocals that get on my nerves! I don't really know why, 'cause I think Roine Stolt's got a great voice (pleasant echoes of John Wetton); it's probably his never-ending ENTHUSIASM that puts me off after a minute or so, especially when I notice with how much verve he sings the silliest lyrics...

    Take a look to Paradox Hotel. I've been listening to their previous work, and never found it very interesting. But having heard a little of Paradox Hotel I purchased it and after a few listenings I thing that it is a very important album of 2006 and not only. I never liked Stolt guitar, but here he is doing a very beutiful work imho, maybe becouse of the attention in the compositions, and the solos are not so bad (I like very much the guitar solo in Touch my Heaven)

I think Roine Stolt's guitar work is always fine and full of feeling. Of course he's not specially original or technically amazing, but he's really versatile, switching easily between jazz-fussion improvisation, Gilmour-like bluesy solos, Steve Howe-like solos, or more hard rock stuff.
My only complain is the excesive length of some of their tracks, which would be better if they condensed them into shorter ones. I like his guitar noodling but there's no sense in playing solos forever and ever.
