Prog isn't about love, soul is. Marvin gaye, The classics IV, Stevie Wonder and the other brothas. No, I'm just kidding, there are fine love ballads by prog bands but if your purpose is to play them for your sweetheart I don't think it makes sense. Play Marvin Gaye instead, let's get it on!

Alright, for the prog purists I'll mention some prog love songs I remember:
Wondering aloud - Jethro Tull
VDGG - Lost
Yes - Sweetness
Requiem - Jethro Tull
There are a lot more corny songs but I don't remember well. But again, I got the feeling that prog is too cold to talk about love the way other genres do, and this is IMHO.

The greatest prog love song (besides Script by Marillion or a good portion or MC by Marillion) is Turn of the Century by Yes. Well not the greatest or the best, but it is beautiful. The best is Lady Fantasy by Camel.

I'd second (or third, or fourth  ) almost every song mentioned from the "golden era". yet, among these, Lady Fantasy stands out as my fave (despite being a suite rather than a song...)
Non prog: the first thing that came to my mind is " I don't know how to love him" from Jesus Christ Superstar. Also Gethsemane is another good love song (it indeed is! check out the philosophy behind it  ) from this album.
if there's anyone who thinks there might not be love songs in prog, I'd recommend Peter Hammill's album with the same name !

Script is most certainly a love song. It's actually about having a broken heart from his love leaving him for another man and then she gets married. It's about true love meaning that you want them to be happy more than you ("so I hold my peace forever, when you wear your bridal gown").
Lavender is a children's love song. The "Lavender's blue, dilly dilly" is taken from an old children's love song (well, sort of love). The song demonstrates the innocence of the love of children.
Also, Kayleigh is definitely a love song. The song is about realizing how much he loved his girlfriend(s) after they leave him (or he leaves them).

I still don't really consider it to be a love song, but more like a song of mourning. Different opinions, though, so no bother in trying to change mine.
