It is rather meditative with the flute of Nik Turner being predominant; lots of synthesizers and spacey guitar and vocoder. The album gets rockier towards the end, but don't expect any crashing guitars like HAWKWIND. For any fan of the psychedelic branch of prog this is an absolute must album.

Unfortunately it does only exist in a vinyl version; a 1994 CD-issue of Nik Turner of the same name includes the same lyrics, but completely different music! Not a bad album, but fades in comparison to the vinyl."
my concern was that since I had it on a Russian mp3 CD, I wasn't sure which version I really had... Russians are known to have converted vinyl-only albums to mp3 as well; I have a copy of No Earthly Connection (actually even two different copies: Music Reincarnate in a single piece in one, broken down in the other!!!) btw, another partly dark album ehWink?
What doubts me most is that the music in my mp3 CD is exactly as described above! btw, I'll be happy if someone informs me of what exactly do I have Confused... I can give the track durations and more detailed info if needed... (besides, what Russians put inside the CD as the album cover is completely different than that featured in PA... it has a picture of Sphynx with some UFO's flying around...)

Gentle Giant's "Aquiring The Taste" is very, very dark in my opinion.

And King Crimson's "Red" either.

This is my exact track duration listing, with less-than-minor, 1 second variations in 3 tracks. I am surprised how Russians (or whoever the hell it was who converted the vinyl into mp3...) did such a precise job.Confused
 
(I was pretty sure of the '70's sounds anyway... besides, the music is just as described in band info, and the track tags are credited to 1978)
 
btw, I was wrong about the cover. I confused it with Anubian Lights' 2nd album, which is also in my disc. It is still different than the one featured in PA discography anyway... hard to describe, but basicly it's a graphic of "Sphynx" words in various sizes, forming a shape of scorpion...

you can easily tell the CD-version from the vinyl version. if you hear sounds that seem to be knocks on a wall at the beginning of the first three tracks, you have the vinyl version. these are knocks on the walls of the Great Pyramid (from within; the album was recorded inside the Great Pyramid)

Yes, its dark. Another dark and creepy krautaband/album is German Oak. Highly reccomended. Read the tho reviwevs and you'll get the idea.

All this talk about the Xitintoday album I haven't heard, makes me very curious.

unfortunately I don't have the "other" version anyway Cry... strangely enough; my computer's soundcard is broken down here (at work) and though I loaded the CD here, I'll have to wait 'till I get home to check out your instruction Big smile... Durations match, anyway...
 
and I'll have to wait 'till another spring to get the CD version, if ever Confused
 
those who are curious of the mp3'ed vinyl version; you'll have to track it down in Russia (a CD called "Space Rock", printed by a group which call their CD's "domashniaya kollektsiya" - "home collection"...) or, more easily, when you drop in at Istanbul; I'll give you a copy for free Big smile

your posts evoke several feelings:
 
- I would've thanked for the lyrics; for I love that album and wanted to sing; but as I learn the meaning beneath them; I'm not so sure of that anymore Wink (actually I already knew what "Phallus Dei" actually means... but I never thought they would take it this far!)
 
- I speak a little German, and I wanted to improve it; but after this I'm not sure of that, either! after all, I listen to the songs without paying attention to their meanings, and enjoy them; but when I sense their contrast to my beliefs, I can't enjoy them at all!!! The same happened when I discovered what it was about VdGG's White Hammer Wink... what can I do, I'm a conservative christian! ("conservative" in this sense doesn't mean "catholic" or "traditionalist"... I'm neither!)
