I rediscovered early Camel. I have always thought that Dust &
Dreams, Harbour of Tears, Rajaz and A Nod and a Wink were the best
that Camel have ever done. However, I was intrigued by how many people
on the forum highly rate Moonmadness. I have the album, but could not
remember one track from it so I gave it a listen. I recognised all the
tracks but it was if I was listening to them with new ears. I have
since dug out Mirage and the Snow Goose. Thanks for that!
I also bought the Frost album after reading about it on Prog Archives.
Excellent! From the musicians, I know IQ well but knew nothing about
Arena. I looked them up and ordered the top three albums based on the
reviews. What a clever bunch of people subscribe to this site - Contagion
is fantastic and hardly off my stereo except when I listen to Immortal?
and The Visitor.

I discovered GNIDROLOG, an interesting band, though not one of my favourites; however, I'd rather like to see and find some of my favourites on PA site (they do not need to be discovered for their names constitute rock anthology) which currently aren't here ( temporarily I hope!), mostly due to the lack of appropriate sub/genre.

This site brought me back to progressive music. I'd been into jazz for the last 15 years but was initially into progressive rock since the 70's. The bands and artists I've discovered here whom I've enjoyed are:
Porcupine Tree
Spock's Beard
K2
The Flower Kings
Ange
Le Orme
Godspeed
There are many more but this should do for now.
P.S. It's fun to see that there are still many people who enjoy these types of music.

Here's a few:
1. Riverside ~ Melodic metal prog. Get "Second Life Syndrome".
2. Taal ~ These guys are in a class of their own (like Jethro Tull, Zappa and Crimso). Get "Skymind".
3. Oceansize ~ their "Everyone Into Position" album is a accessable and heavy and melodic. I like the singer's voice as well.
4. Muse ~ "Absolution" is prog but not very. Good songs, vocals, playing and production.
5. Pure Reason Revolution ~ "The Dark Third" is one of the best debut albums I've ever heard. Incredible vocals.

You ever checked out Verdun? They only have one album to-date, but I think that some of the same things you like about Taal (exotic vocals, eclectic instrumentation, lush arrangements) you will find with Verdun as well, but without the tendency toward dance rhythms that Taal has.
Just a suggestion...

All in all, it's The Mars Volta as I've knows Genesis(my favorite band) before joining PA. TMV I descovered here and they've steadily climbed up to second spot in my all time favorites.
