Hahaha, you will get it soon! I just hope you don't get disappointed by the actual music itself, I can't see how you will be though. Do let me know though, whichever way you want.
I want to know your thoughts about it! |

No problem. I think I'll post my thoughts on this thread if it's apropiate for RIO fans... Now that I mentioned it, where do you think they'll end up if they get added? Art rock? RIO/Avant-garde? Psych/Space rock? Other perhaps?

I think Space id the most suitable and after that Art Rock. Which makes this band a bit not relevant to this thread...

Hmmm. I smell another Art rock addition along with dozens of other uncategorisable bands.

The other tracks are not like that though.
88Mhz is pure avant-prog! Laboratorio Grotowsky is a Soft Machine-esque track, but with Fripp and some avant-garde touches. Catástrofe is pure hard rock pretty much. Perro Negro is also rock. The spacey tracks are Proll 1 (which is kind of more like post rock), Disidente and Orígenes del Movimiento. Oh and Proll 2 is also rock, but with avant touches. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I'd say more Art Rock myself. Edited by Geck0 - September 02 2006 at 20:16 |

Suprisingly I am awear of them . Unforunately I have not heard any of their music though. From memory the band started in 1997, and has done Collaborative work with both The Boredoms and OOIOO. The OOIOO side of things is not suprising considering two the members are from OOIOO, I could not tell you which ones though.
There is not a huge amount on information on the band. I don't think you are going to have any luck searching for them on English speaking sites, so you better touch up your Japanese. This being said I know their lastest Album "Humming Moon Drip" which was brought out this year should be readly avaliable from places like HMV Japan (if you are interested).
If you are looking for other bands in somewhat similar vain to The Boredoms and OOIOO is suggest you try some of the following:
After Dinner
Limited Express (Has gone?)
Omoide Hatoba (an off shot of the Boredoms)
Ufo or Die (this is only from recommendations I have not heard them yet)
And for those liking After Dinner, the lead singer formed another band called HOAHIO, which are more pop/indie orientated still with that queer twist, but might interest some people.
@Assaf, some nice purchases That French TV album is a classic. Oh also, I managed to find the Kroko CD, after long searching. And the store gave it to me for a discount price because it has been sitting in the store for some long.

Yes, I've seen that "Humming Moon Drip" is their most recent album. I am presuming there are other albums as well then? It seems there is an interest in Japanese avant-garde/experimental music at the moment, so most recent releases are easier to obtain than before. I think I may try and get a copy of "Humming Moon Drip", as someone recommended them on last.fm, because they saw I was listening to OOIOO. Having said that, I should really get some Boredoms too, but I fear their releases maybe a bit too noise orientated for me. Which Boredoms album is closest to the OOIOO sound (if any)?
Adam, I've also bought another Hugh Hopper release (I forget which one, but the one he did with that American band) from Wayside for $3 (not including postage), so I look forward to hearing that. |

Yes they do have many other albums other than "Humming Moon Drip", but from the prices I have seen, 150 yen, it looks like they are download prices. But have a further look and you should turn up other things.
You might hear the Boredoms sooner than you think , good news about the Hugh Hopper as well, tell me what it is like when it comes in.

Thanks everyone
Also good work James on the addition of OOIOO. Please correct me if I am wrong but I thought Feather Float realsed in 2001? Unless there were numerous releases. Also good to see Hot Fur here, I have not put much time towards listening to them but a worthy addition. |
