I made this poll because I noticed many of my favorite albums on this site are ranked #3 for each respective artist. I compiled 20 popular artist's 3rd ranked album and this is the list.

I`d like to choose Larks Tongues, or Animals, or A Farewell to Kings, even Udu Wudu...

Crimson takes this one...

Can - Ege Bamyasi.   H to He, Sky Moves Sideways, Udu Wudu, and Mirage are also pretty good.

Van der graaf generator's H to He. Hard to beat the song Emperor in his war room.

Tough to choose between "The Lamb," "Udu Wudu," "Animals," "Songs from the Wood," and LTIA. Actually, right now I am digging "H to He" the most.

Ege Bamyasi or H to He, then Udu Wudu. (voted VdGG before I noticed Can's album)

Many great choices - I plunged for a controversial one. So by Peter Gabriel. I know many of you think it is too pop, but I love it. Genesis, VDGG, Camel, Pink Floyd, Kate Bush and Porcupine tree were strong contenders though.

Oh easy The Lamb, for 20 years my favourite album finally had to concede that SEBTP was better though!!!!

AAARGGGHHHH!!! are you kidding me? no multiple choice? what kind of poll is this? Confused sadistic little creature, you...

i had a tough choice - The Lamb, H To He, A Farawell, Animals.... but in the end i went for Lark's Tongues; quintessential album, truly a masterpiece

There are some of my favourite albums in this list, so I had to make a difficult choice.. which was PF's mighty "Animals". Other favourites of mine are Kate Bush's "Aerial", KC's LTiA and ELP's "Trilogy".

VdGG, followed by Crimson
not that I agree with those thrid place albums.

You should change your thread title >> misleading

Third rate is not third place.

Third rate implies awful >> third place implies third best
let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword
