LOLLOL  For the longest time, I had a feud going on with a friend where we'd try to trick each other into viewing this pic as often as possible...  it culminated when I borrowed the album from someone, scanned the cover extremely high-res, made it his desktop, locked the desktop, then opened a Netscape window over it...  when he came back and closed it, BOOM, Naked Manowar IN THE FACE, in all its highres glory!  Evil Smile
LOL

I've listened to all studio albums by Devin Townsend so far, and my opinion is negative - metal - not very imaginative but very noisy.

Devin is very good in my opinion. He blends the loud walls of sounds he uses in Strapping Young Lad, with a very mellow and melodic feel. It's the heaviest stuff you'll find that is actually calming.

When I read the post as above, I wonder whether poster listened to HighTide.
If he did, his sense of humor is totally avoiding me...

Same here! Are you from London too?

Devin is a great performer and wonderful writer.

I love his solo stuff, but I am not a huge fan of Strapping Young Lad, they sound way too much like nu-metal to me.

Overall, Devin Townshend Band > Strapping Young Lad

ConfusedLast time I checked SYL sounded much more like Death Metal than Nu-Metal. I don't think anyone confuses them with Limp Bizkit any time soon.Wink

I agree.

If you think SYL sound like Nu-Metal you really haven't listened to SYL.

SYL is a death/hardcore band,IMHO.

I was blasting SYL during classroom once and everyone was like "I didn't know you liked Linkin Park, is that some unreleased song?". I never listened to any Metal in public ever since. Ouch

I saw SYL a month back, Devin scares me all those facial expressions he does!  Not keen on SYL, but I do prefer his work with DTB.  Synchestra has its moments, but it's not an album I will play too often to be honest.
