Man, oh man!!! Does that bring back memories. I think MTV world premiered that video and I hadn't heard about Walsh's departure. Since Walsh's and Elefante's voices are similar, I thought it was Steve singing. Imagine my surprise when their little curly haired dude pops up.
Thanks for taking me down memory lane. You've got to love those 80's special effects. E |

Yeah. Basically the video converted. Found it on ebay and paid around $20 for it.

I was able to get that Omaha show on DVD. I like it; however, curious to know how much was left out. A lot of VC on there, plus the usual staples and some surprises ("Mysteries & Mayhem" for one). I thought "No One Together" was a highlight.

I saw the Omaha concert you are talking about ... I still have it on VHS the concert is great but the Audio quality let it down I think (far too much high end and hardly any bass). John Elefante did a pretty good job and Kansas played well also. I remember when I got that video when it came out how much I wished Walsh was still in the band, but looking back now John Elafante did do a fine job it must have been very hard to try and fill the shoes of Steve Walsh

^ Agreed but you know what so does Warren Ham. I thought if Lynn Meredith and John Bolton decided to leave Proto-Kaw that guy could take both of their places.

Elefante did admit to not being a good keyboardist live; so, that's why they brought on Warren Ham. Dude's got a good voice, though.

I have not but I did see them that year (the last time until 2004) at the Universal Amphitheater in LA. I am not sure if that was later or earlier in the tour. He did not appear to be a lead singer but then again neither did Walsh. But they made John be up front on this tour and Robby was a side person.
John's biggest problem was he was not as good as Walsh on Keys and that forced him to stand out front. He was very young I think 22-23 that tour so it is really inexpiereince. . His voice is way better now.

Have you seen the video of their performance in Omaha, NE on the Vinyl Confessions tour? Elefante clearly looks uncomfortable when out from behind keyboards.

I go for AudioVisons again. The complete band has always sounded better to me than when it fragmented although Fair Exchange, Crossfire, Chasing Shadows and Windows are fantastic songs. John Elelphante is a fine singer but he lacked the experience and depth of Steve Walsh. Drastic Measure No Robby, No Steve and barley any Livgren. Some of the songs were OK like End of the Age but starting with this one through In the Spirit of things are big letdowns to me.

I enjoy all three; however, Walsh's vocals are simply too amazing to overlook. In his prime, it was hard to top him. I had to go with Audio Visions.
Now, Vinyl Confessions is a darn fine album, if I may say so. Just might have to load that one up on my iTunes here. E |

Well, Livgren became a Christian on Audiovisions, so I thought I would put these three together.
I havenīt heard Drastic Measures, but most people tell me it isnīt that great. Audiovisions was a bit like a ship without a captain, so Vinyl Confessions gets my vote (some great songs on there)
