If you can, they're absolutely amazing, I saw them last night near Philly, I couldn't believe how painstakingly exact everything was, they really know that material inside out - they closed with Supper's Ready, and encored with The Knife - Fantastic!!!

I`m going to see them in Montréal on April 2nd. Never seen them before although I know people who have seen the real Genesis back in the early 70`s and they say these guys do a pretty good job. They`re playing a small venue ( Le Spectrum ) so I hope they really crank it up.

A pretty good job!?!?! These guys play everything with such precision I really can't see how Gensis themselves could have done any better, for real. I'm gonna see them again when they open the NEARfest this summer. I can hardly say enough good about them, an absolute must see.

I saw TMB do the "Foxtrot" tour last year, and have tix for their "SE" tour next week. Their shows follow a similar format: they open with Watcher (just to whet your appetite), then do the entire "tour" (Foxtrot, SE or The Lamb) exactly as it was done by Genesis, then do Supper's Ready, and encore with The Knife. (They often throw in TMB somewhere along the line, since it's their "signature" song). TMB is the only Genesis cover band in the world that has been sanctioned by Genesis themselves. TMB has an exclusive license to perform Genesis in Canada, and a semi-exclusive in the U.S. In addition, Genesis provided TMB with all the original slides for the SE and Lamb shows, so that TMB would be able to recreate the tours exactly. 2005 will mark the 30th anniversary of The Lamb, and I expect TMB will be doing The Lamb tour sometime that year. It is the most complicated of the three Genesis tours they do, requiring multi-media set-ups, including three slide projectors and screens, multiple costume changes, and unique lighting effects. maani, good idea on the reviews, definately a must have, imo. I overheard someone mentioning that TMB can't perform The Lamb in the U.S., is that true? It'd be great to see, I'm sure. The place I saw TMB has The Machine performing The Wall by Floyd soon, I wonder how that is. |

I saw TMB a few years ago and they were indeed superb. I'm going to see G2 in a few weeks.How do they compare?

Gonghobbit: The Machine is one of the oldest tribute bands in existence; I used to go see them in the early 1980s! They are quite good, and definitely worth seeing. Re G2, I think they are the same band that began as "Re-Genesis," and, from what I hear, are also quite good. They play almost exclusively in GB, and maybe some other European cities. They don't do entire "tours" as TMB does, but rather a "mish-mash" of Genesis stuff, including post-Gabriel material. I myself would be interested in seeing them. Can't wait for TMB this Thursday!! ReGenesis are a totally separate band to G2 - I've seen them several times over the years, but not recently; I understand that of the original lineup, only the bass/12 string/pedals player is the same now. They used to be a guarantee of a good night out, mostly concentrating on earlier material, but usually ending with Dance On A Volcano/Los Endos (with the occasional full show of 'Lamb'); however, since they have lost most of the lineup I am used to, I cannot say with any accuracy what they are like these days. |
