'Kay, I make a point of making a different band every time this comes up, so I think I'll make my first one without Rick Wakeman. Wink

GIANT CRIMSON GENERATOR
Lead Vocals: Peter Hammill
Guitars: Robert Fripp and Gary Green
Keys/Cello/Vocals: Kerry Minnear
Reeds: David Jackson and Phil Shulman
Violin: David Cross
Bass: Tony Levin
Drums: Bill Bruford

It'd be crazy.  Hammill would write lyrics and some music.  He'd provide much of the "freakout factor", and would give an element of raw emotion.  Fripp and Green would work kind of like Fripp and Belew did, and Green's dynamic soloing would add some energy.  Fripp'd do crazy rythmic conundrums and use lots of effects.  He'd also do lots of songwriting.  Kerry would handle keyboards much like in GG, and his tendency to use lots of clavinet would add a bit of a funk feel.  Jackson and P. Shulman would be cool to see on stage togather simply because they're completely different.  The polar opposite factor would be kinda cool.  Cross would be the "calmness" at the eye of the hurricane.  And as for Levin and Bruford, well, they'd provide more of the best rhythm section ever!!!

Just a passing thought, maybe it'd be crap.  But it just might work.

This would be a rather interesting group to watch:

Vocals - Mike Patton (Mr. Bungle)

Guitars/Vocals - Frank Zappa

Flute/Vocals - Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull)

Guitars - Steve Vai

Violin - Jean Luc Ponty

Saxaphone - Skerik (Les Claypool)

Keyboards - Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater)

Bass Guitar/Vocals - Les Claypool (Primus)

Mike Dillon
Percussion - Mike Dillon (Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade/Fancy Band)

Drums and Percussion - Terry Bozzio

-------

I have no idea what would come out of this group but you can bet it'll be unique.

From the same era, eh?

I won't do the obvious and choose all the great artists from the '70s.

Instead, how about:

Roine Stolt - guitar/vocals

Yogi Lang - vocals/keyboards/guitar

Fred Schendel - keyboards/backing vocals

Dave Meros (I hope that's his name, the Spock's Beard bassist?) bass

Gavin Harrison - drums

And the music? I suspect it would be 24 carat symphonic prog (even though Harrison and Lang don't play in symphonic bands) with some powerful guitar/keyboard interplay and some great epics.Clap
