And to tell the truth, I think Geddy himself is (or rather, was) pretty hot as well. Could be due to my strange taste in men, though - ask Dirk!

And ehm, yes: Steve Howe must be the WORST singer of all! The guy is just terrible as soon as he starts using his vocal chords... he should most definitely stick to playing his guitar. And abstain from being photographed as well, BTW.

Man you sure hate Steve Howe's voice! Is he that bad?? I'm gettin' goosebumps...I thought Yes was perfect in every sense but now I guess all bands have their flaws

Saying that Steve Howe has a bad voice is llike saying Bob Dyl;an had a bad voice.  In Dylan's case, the songs spoke for themselves.  In Howe's case, the guitar playing speaks for itself.  He did do an album of Dylan covers which, IMO, is very good by the way.  I guess he knew his limits or in some way related to Dylan as some sort of vocally challenged brother.

Howe does hold up harmony chores on Yes albums as well as live where some supporting players will not even try.  However buried in the mix or mandatory, Howe's backing vocals have been part of the Yes sound for lo these many years.  Yes ultimately may not sound the same without him.

Not a good singer.  Should have guest vocalist on solo albums.  Hard to defend him but he has the creds for me to try.

This is a mean poll.

Yes, this is mean, but the original vocals are inevitable part of prog. Personally, I like all these guys mentioned in a poll, but just wanted to theorize with conneisseurs of prog.

What is Steve Howe doing here? He is funny but really terrible singer. Geddy Lee is great - but it depends on your taste.. For me, he always will be one of the best singers.

I don't think there are good of worst singers... Maybe it's just a matter of taste but some strange voices match perfectly with an especific music... Peter Gabriel hasn't a great voice, but they make music for his tones... I don't like Geddy Lee as a singer but almost every Rush album sounds great for me... I insist, it's just a matter of taste...

most people know it is simply a question of taste.  Geddy's vocals while at times are.... entertaining hahah... are as much a part of the Rush 'sound' as anything else.

I'd say Jon Ander son. His voice just sounds expressionless to me and it definitely is rangeless (Not to mention I think it's extremely cheesy).

And come on, you can't deny the range of Peter Hammill.

I've been rude about Geddy Lee enough today so I'll lay of him for a while. Instead, I'm going to stick the boot into Thijs van Leer circa "In and Out of Focus" - truly unlistenable!

um, lets start:

_Camel's Singer
_Eloy's Singer
_Geddy Lee's screaming style (he actually has a good voice)
_All of Dream Theater's singers ... I'd rather have Portnoy sing (althrough Labrie has a good voice when he sings in a mellow tone)
_Neal Morse when he doesn't sing mellow (the ending of Temple of The Living God pt1 is awful)
_Singer of Glass Hammer
_Steve Howe of course
_Peter Hamill (he's talented, but I don't like his voice nor his band)
_Those singers of Gentle Giant ... jeez
_Charly Garcia (After the 80s)
_Chris Squires singing alone
_Crucis' singer.

umm, that's all I could think of for now.

Patrick Lundstrom of Kaipa - his voice really grates! There's definitely some Eurovisionishness about him.

Judging from the results of the poll, "Someone else" is the winning answer, and Geddy Lee wins with Steve Howe - amazing!!
