What really good Jazz/Rock Fusion albums have meen released since 2000?
I like a lot Planet X - Moonbabes and Deus Ex Machina - Cinque, but i don't see them as masterpieces.

All my "usual suspects" include Hymn Of The 7th Galaxy posted above , and then would support and in fact go further than Rorro, asking for nominations of some more modern jazz rock classics. Here are a few for starters:
Hellborg Buckethead Shrieve: Octave Of The Holy Innocents (1993 - the remix issued 2002 doesn't work as well)
Conrad Schrenk's Extravaganza: Save the Robots. (1996)
McHacek: Featuring Ourselves (c1998)
Nu.fusion/nu.jazz has got one mention with Brad Mehldau already, but would include
EST's Strange Place For Snow
Bugge Wesseltoft's New Conception Of Jazz: Live
and i'm prepared to stick my neck out and say Terj Rypdal's nu.fusion tribute to Bitches Brew, Vossabrygg (released in Spring 2006) will be still spoken about in years to come.
BTW, if you were asked to come up with a CD burn of 79 to 80 minutes of classic jazzrock classic tracks, however, a tune by a named artist can only be used once, what would the list be - better, in an order to provoke a special flow of moods?

Michel Camilo - On Fire is a great labum , a masterpiece. I'll think of which songs would i include in a compilation of jazz rock classics.

Would Ton Ton Macoute count? I know they only ever made one album, and it does have VDGG tendencies, but there are some jazz bits in there.
Or should i hold a pillow over my face for a wee whiley?

Kenso's released two studio albums this decade: Esoptron and Fabulis Mirabilibus de Bombycosi Scriptus — and I definitely think the latter is a masterpiece!! But I like everything Kenso's done.

i love both feels good to me and one of a kind form bill bruford...i love fusion but i feel many of the albums from the genre are quality most tracks being of equivalent quality, therefore making it difficult to pick a fav. Fusion albums are the best value buy cd or albums because they are reasonably priced and the far majority are high quality, and have multiple good tracks

Weather Report- Black Market (peerless album; I only have 'Heavy Weather' otherwise and I don't like that nearly as much- I must get their early work)

WELL, because COLOSSEUM features in a few lists I'm going to tell you jazz/rock and C fans to go out and get the 'COLOSSEUM LIVES" DVD of their live concerts in Cologne in 1994. It's an excellent package and well worth the money. It also features the late and great Dick Heckstall-Smith and is probably some of the last readily available footage of the great man . Do yourselves a favour!
Also, early BRAND X up to and including 'Masques' is wonderful stuff. Percy Jones , what a player!
Masterpieces though? What are they, really? [A rhetorical question only].

If and If2 have been issued by Repertoire Records in repro mini-LP sleeves - might be limited edition, but the price isn't outrageous.

Nice to hear about Repertoire reissues; I have first pressing LPs of IF I, II and III as wel as 'Not Just Another Bunch...' This is the band which should be included in PA under Jazz-Rock/Fusion .

For newer stuff - Go directly to Vital Tech Tones, CAB or maybe Vertu. Fragile out of Japan - the musicianship is outstanding. Bon Lozaga or Vic Stevens stuff is great.
