Just searching through my albums and cd's, I realised there was some amazing music released in 1970. Just focusing on that year what are your known or unknown, Prog or non-Prog gems from that year ?  I for sure forgot loads of albums but this is my short list :

King Crimson - In the Wake of Poseidon/ Lizard
Led Zeppelin - III
Frank Zappa - Weasels ripped my Flesh
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Cosmo's Factory
Uriah Heep - Very Eavy, very Umble
Gentle Giant - Gentle Giant
Genesis - Trespass
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Deep Purple - In Rock
ELP - ELP
Supersister - Present from Nancy
VDGG - He to H......
Caravan - If I could do it all over again, .....
T2 - It'll all work out in Boomland

Cheers.

Yes released "Time and a Word" in 1970.  Not too shabby.

Yes, I agree it was a good year. Genesis: Trespass and Yes: Time And A Word were my favourites, without a doubt.

It's hard to choose an absolute favorite of that year, but VDGG certainly comes close.

My 5 star picks for 1970:

VDGG - H to He
Genesis - Trespass
King Crimson - Lizard

Almost making the cut is GG's self-titled.

WOO! CREEDENCE! Yeah, and trespass is great... Have to say though, 'The Knife' is probably my second least favourite song on that album... Its definitely a good song, but I prefer the folkier tunes on that record...

1969 - 1974 was a particularly amazing time for musical creativity. Must have been the socio/political climate of the time... or maybe it was just the alignment of the stars, who knows, but I don't think this period of creativity has been matched or surpassed since.
