I believe you will find this is a BOOTLEG Angry

I see you already have a review by hawkbrock! I happen to agree with the reviewer that it is a good one to have, but it is not an officially authorised product. The film was taken from the KQED TV broadcast and has been available as an ROIO ever since.

EDIT: it appears Castle may be preparing to issue an authorised version of this, but it is not yet out.

I don't know the DVD myself, but are you entirely sure about that? I wouldn't want to delete it (when there are reviews attached to it), and then realize later on that it was a legitimate release. I found this on some random Pink Floyd forum:

It appears that KQED (the TV station) hold the copyright and have allowed it be released legitimately.

I'm no copyright expert but I believe that once a band agrees to a TV broadcast they have no control over what's done with the recording. Although Led Zep recently vetoed their Live Aid appearance from being released on the DVD
 undecided

It has certainly been available over the years as a bootleg, but as I added to my first post, it looks like Castle are about to release it and I cannot believe they would do so without proper licence. In the circumstances maybe it would be best to wait and see!

Today there is a new thread on the forum from a guy who has had his order for this DVD cancelled by Amazon. So I decided to do some more research.

"KQED Concert: There was a PBS "concert" (without an audience) recorded by KQED TV on 29 April 1970. They played "Atom Heart Mother," "Careful with that Axe, Eugene," "Cymbaline," "Green is the Colour," "Grantchester Meadows," and "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun." It has never been commercially released." - from Brain Damage fan-site [probably the best fan-site]

"
recorded 4/29/70 KQED tv San Fran. vhs 60 min great quality ( I belive it was recorded at the filmore w/out audience. tracks; atom heart mother, cymbaline, grantchester meadows, green is the color, careful w/ axe, set the controls" - from the Pink Floyd ROIO Database [ie they believe it to be a bootleg]

"This DVD is a combination of 2 sources. A VHS tape recorded directly from the rebroadcast was used for the video. while the audio was sourced from a 3/4" station master." - From the actual DVD insert

"DVD produced by Harvested"
- From the actual DVD insert [Harvested is a well known producer of ROIOs & VOIOs]

A Message from Harvested

Harvested Records is a myth. It exists in the minds of its creators. It is make believe. We are NOT a bootleg company! We're just a few guys who have been collecting Pink Floyd audio and video recordings for 4 decades and now want to preserve the best of our collection in the digital realm. The chosen medium at this moment is CDR for audio releases and DVD-R for video releases.

Sometimes the process can be very tedious, but it's always a labor of love. We've decided to share many of our projects with other Floyd collectors, originally through the Echoes community and now through [email protected]. None of these titles are for sale and we highly discourage the practice... in fact, it would be an insult to what we are trying to do. We keep regular track of eBay and request that all of our titles be removed from auctions.

Our releases are often offered through a "weeding" process via our Yahoo group. A post is made to the message board offering copies to 3 individuals at no charge. The 3 agree to distribute perfect CDR clones to 3 other Yahoogroups members, free of charge, who agree to do the same, and so on. Once the weed reaches saturation on the Yahoogroups site, weed obligations are met by offering the title to the burnerless and/or people in other trading circles (like Yeeshkul and Dime a Dozen, two bit torrent websites). All of our audio releases are traded as Shorten (.shn) files on data discs in order to maintain file integrity.

We do not invite offers of any kind for these titles including trades. "

- from the Harvested website at http://www.harvested.org/

I think this is conclusive proof that this is an unauthorised release and should not be on PA. Shame you already have a review and several other ratings!

Regards

EDIT: if and when Classic Rock issue something then I imagine it would be properly authorised but it would seem they are having probs with it!

Just because it is unauthorised does not seem to be a good reason not to discuss it. As I said on the other thread, this is freely available on the trading circuit and is essential for Floyd fans.

I do not disagree with you.

This thread is reporting that PA has defined this unauthorised DVD in the discography of Pink Floyd which is against site policy.
