So what do you prefer?

the dvd-version of rush in rio is awesome, so i voted for it. different stages gives a better overview of their work (rush in rio has too many newer songs on it, i like their earlier work better).

I gotta go for Exit...Stage Left. Pure magic and flawless. Besides, it kept me company when I had to stay at my Grandmother's in Tulsa, OK for a week. Dubbed it from LP to cassette and borrowed my buddy's Walkman. Man alive, that was the longest week of my life. Love you, Grams, but not a lot to do down there.

Probably Exit...Stage Left followed closely by All the World's a Stage, although the version of By-Tor from the latter is the best live track they've ever recorded.

There's a clear balance between ATWAS and ESL. I prefer the first, because there's more r''r energy in the playing of songs like Bastille day, the best Rush song fr the ovrtur of a show. The "flaw" of ATWAS is the fact of the repertoire been based in the eary albums. But I love them! But I could pick ESL as my fav with equaly good reasons, or even Different Stages with its excellent disc three.
Bach, Ma, Bros, Déia, Dante.

I'll second that. I love the performances in Exit...Stage Left (IMO it was their musical peak), but I love the rawness and power of All the World's a Stage.

I think this is a failry reasonable line-up (only I voted for DS).

I agree that ESL has the MAGIC but it is limited in it's representation of the band.  Albeit early in their career, they still had diverse material that is not presented.

In place of RIO, though, I would have to go with R30.  The production quality of RIO makes it somewhat of a challenge.  Perhaps RIO does have better set list overall.

I have always had trouble getting into ASOH largely because of that bizarre vocal effect on Geddy's voice during SOME of the songs.  I read all the reviews here of ASOH and this was never mentioned.  Any thoughts?

ASOH does have a special place in my heart though because I was at the San Diego show where they captured that AMAZING performace of MISSION.  After the song, I remember, I turned to my friend and said, "That was perfect!"  Guess the band agreed.

I chose "Exit" but "All the world" has some great stuff. Including all of the "snow dog"

The only live CD I have from Rush is "Exit... Stage Left" and I must say it's excellent (4 stars, as I put on my review)

But I can't vote, because I've just one live album.
