I went to a Satch concert yesterday (my god that was the most awesome concert ever! It was awesome!), and at the concert, the question was raised the forever moving corridors of my brain if this guitar god is proggessive.
If you chose that fifth choice, i kill you!
I lost my account!

You laugh at me because i'm different, I laugh at you because you're all the same

If Steve Vai is categorized as prog-related, then Satch is not prog at all. I like his albums very much, but he is much less experimental.

Unless everything after Flying in a Blue Dream is prog, then no. And if Shred is a seperate genre under the rock banner, then I think Vai belongs there more than he does here.

I never considered Vai to be a shred artist. Even on Passion and Warfare approx. 30% of the time the music is so odd that the average Satriani or even Malmsteen fan would throw the CD out of the window.
