And prog & good aren't the same, many bands can be excellent but not prog, Queen is an example of that IMO

Wouldn't the following artist have the sub genre: Some of them hardly IMHO, and others maybe Prog Related at the most.

  • David Bowie - Art Rock Maybe Prog related, forcing a bit the situation he could reach Proto Prog, but I doubt it.
  • Planet P - Art Rock: Probably Prog Related because of their Space Rock remote relation, but nothing more
  • 7th Wave - Prog Related: Not even Prog related, they were a techno Pop band a la OMD
  • Greenslade - symphonic:There we agree at last, but for your info THEY ARE ALREADY IN PROG ARCHIVES AND IN SYMPHONIC.
  • Jefferson Airplane - Psychedelic: Maybe, even when very rarely USA Psyche bands reach PA.
  • Magna Carta - Symphonic: I see Magna Carta as a watered version of The Strawbs without Wakeman, maybe Prog Related.
  • Angelzoom - Neo: Oh please man Angelzopom???? Despite their cellos and operatic voice of Claudia Uhle, is closer to New Age than to Prog, lets wait and see if she releases more material. But now????  For God's sake, they play Depeche Mode and Linkin Park covers!!!!!
  • Armeggedon - Proto Prog: Are you talking abour Armageddon? In this case, you have two choices the German underground band more linked with hard Rock and the UK version formed by an ex-Renaissance member that will be Prog Related at the most.
  • 10cc - prog related: There's an open Poll in http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=21891&KW=10cc and honestly they aren't doing well there, IMO weird pop

Poll Question: 10cc are Prog?
Poll Choice Votes Poll Statistics
4 [33.33%]
8 [66.67%]

Sorry but that's my honest opinion

About David Bowie: His most prog albums are "Low", "Heroes" and most of all "Lodger". His excursion with the band Tin Machine was prog too, in my opinion.

Any of those artists would be better than Rhapsody, who is on the archives.
I feel the complete opposite....I think Rhapsody is an Extremely Progressive Band...But thats just me.
Then again I find alot of Power Metal bands to be Progressive.

If any metal band needs to be on this site that isn't, it would be Iron Maiden way before Rhapsody.  They pretty much define melodic metal where bands such as Rhapsody and Helloween would probably not exist.

I am in complete agreement, but I think Iron Maiden were rejected by the Admissions Team. BTW, I loathe Rhapsody - they're one of the cheesiest acts I've ever heard in my life. Maiden, on the other hand, are pure class, and I'm looking forward to seeing them again in December.

@Ivan

10cc will be included in the Archives, as they passed a collaborators vote. As you should know.

Honestly didn't knew, even when I voted, because was busy in other things from the team a long time, but itdoesn't affect my opinion, accept it but don't share it.

BTW: It was accepted by two votes, but when I left it the no option was winning.

What was incredible was that after a page of answers nobody knew that Greenslade was already in Prog Archives and kept talking about other things, but until now I didn't even mentioned it. LOL

Not talking about you Dragon Phoenix, your answer came after two others. And sincerely didn't saw it when I chacked the replies.

Hello,

I'd like to second Don Quito's suggestion of adding KTU to the archives. I don't own any of their material myself, but I have heard an excerpt from their latest -and I think only- album, 8 Armed Monkeys, on the radio, and the music that this band plays certainly sounds challenging and innovative. As I looked them up on the web, I also came across a review of the album, which I feel is greatly enlightning.

Whether it be added to the site or not, I hope I'll be taking some of my time to investigate more of this intriguing band. Clap

Not prog.

Neither is Coldplay.

System of a Down deserves the next slot on this site before ANY of those bands, and SOAD has already been rejected twice.

yes queen is excellent, but there's a difference between excellence and prog

Maybe only Bowie, 'Scary Monsters,' where Fripp played (awesome) guitar...
