Also, my favorite song is The Creator Has A Mastertape.  Awesome song.  If anyo of there other stuff is like that song, or along those lines, I would definatly like hearing it, so let me know.

Deadwing and Lightbulb Sun

Beautiful albums

Ah, definetely Deadwing. Deadwing was my first Porcupine Tree album and I was all about hard riffs back then. Then I tried In Absentia, and nowadays they both seem to be Porcupine's best to me, I have a couple of their other albums but none of them come quite to the level of those two.

And there is a lot of PT's extensive discography that is very hard to find,you just have to know where to look.

It took me forever to find XM,XMII and the Futile EP but I found them eventually.
 

Ive seen no one mention The Sky Moves Sideways . I was also wondering, is this one worth getting? The "The Sky...Phase 1-2" seem to interest me.

If you like "Creator has a mastertape" (i think it's a boring song really) than go for Deadwing for sure.

Personally i like Lightbulb sun, Stupid dream and Sky moves sideways much more than Deadwing (and also somewhat more than In absentia).

Certainly worth getting . Might be their best especially if you like Pink Floyd.
If you like Sky than Coma divine will also interest you. The version of Moonloop played here is better
than on Sky and it also has the spacy "Radio active toy"

I'll agree with the rest here - If you liked In Absentia, get Deadwing. They're both really good albums.

For me, I have their 2nd, 3rd and 4th releases (still trying to get Stupid Dream and Lightbulb Sun, which seem to be hard to find, because they're out of print, I believe). Up The Downstair is a bit odd, but I haven't listened to it much lately. Signify is pretty good, and closer to the sound they would eventually get on In Absentia. The Sky Moves Sideways is a good album that I just recently good a couple weeks ago. The 2-Phase title track is pretty good, as is the rest of the album.

If you get any of their first four studio albums (the three mentioned above and On The Sunday Of Life), make sure you get the newer, digi-pack versions as they're two CDs (at least the 2nd-4th albums are), and contain lots of music for your money (I paid anywhere between 15-20 for each of them).

Between Stupid Dream and Lightbulb Sun, which would you all say is worth getting first? I'm certain many will say the latter.

But my firends like Stupiid dream more. I think it's a matter of taste here. Lightbulb sun is spacier somewhat closer to Sky moves sideways  with tracks like Hatesong and Russia on ice. Both are good but if I had to pick between the two definitely Lightbulb Sun.
 

Deadwing is very odd -- it's a mix between In Absentia and Lightbulb sun. Come to think of it, Steve Wilson is the only music writer of today I can think of who can make 5 albums that are very different and yet so similar.

If you like In Absentia, go to Deadwing, then to Lightbulb Sun, and then Stupid Dream.

With Porcupine Tree, once you get used to the idea of Pink Floyd doing metal and ambient, it's hard to lose.
