Yes, they have two albums available for download on their website, check them out! They also have two tracks from their debut album available also. They're different, quite fun to listen to.
They also have a Myspace page. I posted about them a few days back, but nobody replied for some reason. |

Cool, I shall do that. Each track is an MP3, so it may take a while! Unfortunately they don't offer the albums as zip files.
While I'm here, I'll throw another band in: Circulus - Folk/Prog, not sure if it they'll be to everyone's tastes, because they tend to be more folk than prog, but they have a few good proggy pieces and one track in particular is very symphonic. |

Hello PA members, Today I want to recommend the Spanish band ATILA which released albums, Beginning of the End 1975, Intencion in 1976 and Reviure in 1977. There is heavy use of Hammond, Moog and Mellotron and it is mainly instrumental. They do change the moods in their songs but not in a sudden and hasty way, more subtly. They jam a bit in their music alongsideplaying the main themes of their pieces. For instance in the track El Principio del Fin you get the heavy keyboards, some hard edged rock guitar playing, classic prog tunes andplaying etc. Both Intencion and Reviure are worth having, IMO. Sorry I don't go on about the music, but I seem to be at a los for words right now... Edited by avestin |

Another one for today. The band: DÜN Their only album: Eros from 1981 This album is without a doubt on of the best prog albums to come out of France, and one of the best in the genre. This album has 4 tracks and 4 bonus tracks of which 3 are alternative versions of the album tracks. What amazing music comprised of mixture of symphonic, avantgarde, Zheul and other styles of music. The musicianship is impeccable. The drums are excellent! The bass playing is awesome as well. Instrumental extravaganza. There is also a flute which either leads the music or just accompanies it, giving the music a naughty side. There is also a piano and other keyboards thrown in there, but there is no chaos in the music, there is a clear path to the tracks, and it flows on so well. There are also percussions sounding exactly like xylophones, which give it a sound of a modern day symphony. The music is dynamic and a bit crazy at times and the tempo changes often, certain disharmonies, complex, aggressive at times, and shifts from fast tempo's to slower ones. A musthave. Track listing |

So is that Dun album anything like Skymind by Taal? I love Taal and Skymind is one of the best albums I've ever heard in any genre, in my opinion, so your recommendation must be good! And a big thumbs up to Alamaailman Vasarat, Taal, Alphataurus and Moon Safari who have greatly impressed me with their albums in the past two or three months. I shall definitely look into some of these other bands as soon as I can. Thanks again. |

Well, yes and no. Dun is less quirky than Taal, less rocky in their approach. a bit more close to the symphonic side of prog. But I think that if you like Taal and other RIO and Avantgarde groups you are likely to like Dun as well. They are thought of also as incorporating Zheul, and since I am no expert on the subject, I won't argue, but I don't want people do be deterred by this label since their music is much more than merely Zheul, as the reviews on their album will evidently tell you. |

I require your assistance. glass house (Tony) has brought to my attention the band OUT OF FOCUS from Germany which are labeled here under Jazz Rock/Fusion. These are their releases:

Hennes Herring on KB (mainly Hammond organ), Remi Dreschler on guitars, Moran Neumuller on vocals and winds, Klaus Spöri and Stefan Wisheu on drums and bass respectively made an incredibly tight unit although they were prone to a lot of improvisation moments also. Their music is somewhat similar to early British prog but will gradually ...This awesome band came from Munich and made three extraordinary albums on the super-collectable Kuckuk label plus another that never got released until recently. Hennes Herring on KB (mainly Hammond organ), Remi Dreschler on guitars, Moran Neumuller on vocals and winds, Klaus Spöri and Stefan Wisheu on drums and bass respectively made an incredibly tight unit although they were prone to a lot of improvisation moments also. Their music is somewhat similar to early British prog but will gradually evolve to a certain jazz-rock while staying very politically and socially conscious (in the typical German style of those years) although the singing does not hold a big place in their music, their third release (a double) being mostly instrumental. Then Herring will leave the band to form SUBJECT ESQ., that will soon evolve into the excellent SAHARA. The rest of the band will hire a second guitarist and record another excellent album that for some reason never got released but the group will stay active until 78.
So either you Tony, or anyone else familiar with this band (Sean who wrote their bio), could you please tell us a bit more about them, their genre, albums, which are recommended, which do you prefer, what do you think of their music etc. |
