Topic: Acquiring the Taste? Posted: February 17 2006 at 09:47 |
Can someone please explain to me what the artwork to this album is all about? For some reason, I cannot help but think one thing, and I'm hoping I am wrong. So I need some enlightenment. Thank you!

A tongue is licking an apple to "acquire the taste".

I know that is a tongue, but are you sure that's an apple? I didn't realize that apples were an "acquired taste". I've never seen a flesh-colored apple before.

I have no idea how your cover looks, but the apple even has a stem, and it is almost golden and not flesh-coloured in my version of "Acquring the taste".

Yep...that's the artwork that I am referring to. Where is the stem?

You are right, there is no stem. Strange; I remembered the artwork with a stem. Probably because of the way the album title is arranged above the "apple" or whatever it is. But I certainly see the double entendrč now.

As we're on this tastless (sic) theme did you know that on the live version of "Easy Money" John Wetton sings:
"So I argued with the judge
but the b*****d wouldn't budge
'cos they caught me licking fudge...."
What was Richard Palmer-James on about?

They obviously had to make it a different color than red because of the tongue.

More of a single entendre really - the vinyl original was folded so that in the racks of a record shop you'd only see the top half of the picture, which was highly suggestive, and only when you opened the gatefold would it become clear that it was really some kind of fruit.
