"Shine On..." is one of my soul pieces. But I am not trying to compare anything. The first post is quite objective: which is your favourite. Stay cool. Cheers... |

Two of my relatively rare 10/10 songs pitted against one another.
Current ranking inthe DP list of classics: 02. Shine on you crazy diamond (Pink Floyd) 85. Supper's ready (Genesis) PF gets the vote. |

Supper's ready although I am not sure it counts as a track but rather a collection of great mini pieces thrown together sometimes brilliantly |

Shine on... I am one of the very few PA users (or perhaps the only one) who don't like "Supper's ready" at all. I fell so strange... |

I also don't like it, you're not alone. BTW: You can also register on my hompage and rate the epics - so far Shine On is the best prog song according to the ratings. |

me neither I can't get into Supper's Ready and I really like very few songs of Genesis... It is my least favourite among 20 minutes + songs (Pawn hearts, 2112, Tarkus, Lizard, etc.) ... Shine on is brilliant, the perfect emotion ...

Both, at different times/moods. Each is a classic, each is treasured in my collection... though SR came first by a couple of years for me, and got me into prog in a big way. So SR for sentimental/historical reasons. |

These pieces are so different.
Supper's Ready is (one of) the best prog epic(s) in history. Shine on is just a very long song. Far longer than Supper's Ready, the way I see it... Even though the minutes speak for themselves, Shine on just feels so.... Ugh....... ZZZZZZZzzzzz.......... |

Supper's Ready. Shine On has some skip-worthy parts.

I see what yer saying but to me its still better than "Shine On". Im a huge Floyd fan but "Shine On...." has to be one of the most drawn-out Floyd songs ever. Plus Im not a huge fan of WYWH as a whole anyway. Alot of great music is various bits and parts "stiched together". Im mean if you wanna go there you can say that the 9th Symphony was "stiched together", doesnt mean its not a masterpiece. |

Supper's Ready - Impeccable. I can only think of a few songs I like as much
Shine On - Great song, but it's nowhere near as amazing as Supper's Ready. |
