Topic: Acid Mothers Temple Posted: February 02 2006 at 11:01 |

Any heating problems in your flat : get this record by the japanese band Acid Mothers Temple. 'Electric Heavyland' was recorded in 2002 and you have already 2 obvious references Hendrix's 'Electric Ladyland' and 'Earthbound' by King Crimson (the cover). Then : Why care about harmony and melody, if you can have 100% pure energy instead. This record is on the great list of records like Coltrane's 'Ascension', Pat Metheny's 'Zero Tolerance..' and 'My Bloody Valentine's' Loveless. 3 tracks, each one about 15 minutes, of Feedback guitar, heavy drumming, synth swirling, vocalizes and then some.Hendrix meets Coltrane, meets King Crimson meets Gong... To really enjoy this record invite your neighbors crank up the volume and dance it away...

I *love* this band. Some say that it's only Hawkwind worshipping, but for me it's good stuff.

Totally, these guys are truly wicked. I first heard them on an album they did with Kinski, who are really good too.

Fantastic band.Maybe a bit too prolific but who cares when there is more wheat than chaff. I saw them several ago upstairs at The Garage Highbury,Islington. There were less than 100 people in attendance. They played for over 2 hours. Truly amazing gig.

I'll just recommend the SWR incarnation - I saw them last year at 93 feet East in London (check the live reviews section) and they were awesome. This album kicks some serious butt:

There's also a good 3 CD compilation of The Melting Paraiso UFO called Do What You Want To Do, Don't Do Whatever You Don't Want To Do which is selling for 16 quid in HMV at the moment. And then there's Kawabata Makoto's solo stuff as well....
