We haven't really talked about all of the ability systems yet. What ability systems do you guys prefer.
I personality liked the Draw System in VIII. It was great to have the summons (GFs) play a more interactive role in the game by learning abilities. They really made characters very versitile. Yeah, you can assign GFs that had abilities based more around physical attacks, but then they could learn an ability like Recover or Revive and become just one tank of a warrior.
I thought the Esper system in VI was quite cool too, learning magic with the Espers was another way that made the summon magic seem more important to the game.
I did not like the matieria system, I felt it put far too many limits on my characters. There really wasnt' enough customization for me. I didn't like only being able to use a limited number of magic for each character.
I didn't like the individual stats in II, they really f**ked up there. I don't really need to go into detail.

I really like the Sphere Grid system of Final Fantasy X and the Esper system of FFVI the most.

I like the job sistem in final fantasy tactics also because it is very particular and complex! But I detest the same one i FF5...too easy!!In ff8 I don't like many things like wipon that you have to make and the absence of MP!FF 10 is also a good and complex sistem!I like also FF6 whit espers and, sorry Bluesaga, the materia sistem in FF7!

And what abaut battles?I think that FF 10 has the best sistem because you can change the members of your party in the battle and other thing like the control of the summoms and the limit sistem!

My favourite game was FFVIII. Its plot was the one I liked the most, the design of characters was impressive back then and their personalities were pretty strong.
After this one would come FFX with its impressive graphics and charming atmosphere.
I have good memories from FFVII also, since it was the first one I played .
As for ability systems I liked the sphere grid a lot and the materia system was good to me too. The Draw system was pretty complicated and had features I didn't like.

I really liked FF7 but got so immersed in FFX that I had to pick that.Great game, and I loved the turn based battle system.Plus it had the greatest minigame ever featured in a RPG....Blitzball.

I'm a huge fan of blitzball, wasted about 100 hours on it. I gave my vote to X-2, I feel it is a very underrated game, although not really my favourite in the series.

I don't think we will see remake for Final Fantasy games anytime soon. Square is making loads of money off of Final Fantasy XI and I'm sure XII is going to sell very well too. The only chance for a remake of a Final Fantasy game will be if Square has no success for over a year. Even though X-2 bombed, Star Ocean and Final Fantasy XI were more than enough to help the company.
While we're indulging the fantasy of remaking Final Fantasy games. I would really like to see VI and IV redone with improved graphics and music. Those games would do great getting the visual justice they deserve. VII would be nice, but I don't really see a need for VIII and IX, despite being such great games, I don't really see anything to add.

Wow I cant belive Im the only person so far who voted for FFXI. Ive played all of them from #4 onwards. The online component to XI makes it stand out from the others IMO. They are all good, but the multiplayer online aspect is a huge advancement and a neverending, addictive game too. You can make one character and level many "jobs" which makes for almost unlimited possibilites and they are always adding new content to the game. With a new expansion coming soon it will open more areas for leveling and new quests. After playing the MMORPG the single player games seem almost mundane now to me.

FFVI
FFV
FF9
FFVII
I'm not overkeen on FFVII really, I like my mediaeval type settings
better. Plus the inclusion of a gun type weapon really was
annoying in my opinion. It's such a huge game too and I don't
have enough time to sit down at the Playstation and do that.
Still an amazing game nonetheless.
I love VI, it has Kefka, the most evil character ever. The cut
scenes with taking of the Espers really upset me. I've yet to get
to Sephiroth in FFVII, so I can't comment about him.
Having said this, I love Lufia and Lufia II for the SNES, two very great games not made by ENIX/Squaresoft.
