TRIUMIVIRAT ""POMPEII"" |
Just a point, there's no epic named Pompeii by Triumvirat, epic is a name for long songs (usually more than 15 minutes), as a fact there's not even a song named Pompeii by Triumvirat.
Pompeii is a conceptual album that has a 4 stars rating average in this site (Too high IMO) but not a bad album at all.

A barely audible whisper: "Cough! Actually... cough... I don't understand what's the fuss about Close to the Edge either"

Yeah, I know... The Dreadful Spanish Inquisition!
Anything, ANYTHING, but not with the pillows! I can't stand it!
Seriously, I think Close to the Edge is ok, but way overrated! Oops!

The worst I can think now is Six degrees of inner turbulence by Dream Theater.
It's not that bad, though.

See.... That's the funny thing....
Ya gotta LISTEN to the records before ya run yer yapper about what's
wrong with them.
Otherwise... you show yourself up as a clueless zorch.
Anyhoo.
As much as it pains me to admit it.... In this isolated case.... Ivan the
Terrible is utterly correct about there not being any SONG named
"Pompeii" on this DISASTER of a record.
AND.... the longest track on this record.... if memory serves me.... Is
"Vesuvius 79ad", which as I have explained several times on this site is
actually quite impressive in several respects. Not least of which is the
bombastic drumming and riproaring keyboard work of Mssrs. Cress and
Fritz respectively. Ya just hafta wait for the ABOMINABLE vocals of Barry
"Bury my voice at wounded throat" Palmer to end. 45 seconds or so of
agonizing pain at the top of the track which I always used to just skip the
needle over.
Anyhoo. Sooner or later some of you people will actually take my advice...
listen to the aforementioned track.... and realize that I am a genius and
my recommendations here on ProgLibraryOfCongress are both
insuperable and omnicient. I will then direct your generous payments to
the Slipperian Church of Loomerology Fiduciary Fan-Hoovering
Foundation.
Once again:
In the meantime, borrow(don't BUY.... we don't want to ENCOURAGE
Triumvirat) a copy of this otherwise awful record and marvel at 79ad.
I will return later with more directives.
SM.

CTTE
seriously- way too over-hyped. Popular because its popular.
Medi-ocre musicianship- messy at times- repetitive lyrics- annoying vocals
Im sure there are worse but I cant stand CTTE

A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers has soem good parts, but the whole thing seems to be very disjointed and crappily held together.

Where is the musicianship mediocre and messy? It's the pure excellence...if it's not your taste ok, but that doesn't mean at all it's "medi-ocre" or "messy at times", that's an stupid argument. Simply say "I can't stand it", that would be enough. Otherwise you'll deserve such reactions.

I like Rush a lot, but...
"2112," and "Cygnus X-1" are average, NOT GREAT epics.
Rush can be superb at short to mid-length songs ("Xanadu" being an exception) but just can get the epics down IMO.

Oddly, I agree with 'The wizard', Rush have always been one of my fave bands, I love most of their stuff, but 'The fountain of Lamneth' is really not that good.
Actually, I never thought DTs 'Change of seasons' was any good also, I love 'Six degrees..' by the way...we all have different tastes!
