You listen to Rush the least but you got it twice in the list?

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned 'King Crimson'. I liked them up until Wetton left but I prefer Genesis 80's stuff to KC's!
I HATE 80'S AND BEYOND KING CRIMSON!

Explain yourself!
And I'd have to say that Emerson, Lake and Palmer just don't do it for me.

I would like to just ask this: any of you, gentlemen, has, by any chance, a GIRLDFIREND !!!... I mean, girfirends usually provide us with a pleasure that, as I see, you have choosen to reffer at as "suck balls". So, what does that says about the way you talk about this (and the way you think about your special one`s). So rude...

Though I love Thick as a Brick and A passion play, (and maybe minstrel in the gallery), I simply don't get the rest of their stuff, it does not sound as prog to me,m more like a folk-rock band.

My choice for this is Emerson, Lake and Palmer. I could never hear any music from them. It was all Emerson mashing those keys. Should have called the band Emerson, Emerson and Emerson.

ELP for me. I have BSS and Pictures at an Exhibition and I just plain don't like keyboards/organs when played the way Emerson plays them. I want ethereal and supportive keyboards, not at the forefront.
Also, if the MP3s on this site are any indication of their overall musical output: Pain of Salvation
Opeth would be OK, but they're so depressing and I don't like growling vocals.
All the other big ones: Rush, Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, Marillion...I all like very much. I could get into more bands that I like not so much, but this is a famous prog bands topic.

Hawkwind are pretty bad ... infact I like them lots because they are so crappy .. sometimes bad is good in a strange way , I mean how does an inventive creative mind know untill he gives its try ?

Prog Rock: Styx
Prog Metal: Tool
Styx I strongly dislike, so that was easy. I only own Lateralus
by Tool and it's pretty good, I'd give it 3/5 stars. Some other
popular Prog Metal bands are Dream Theater, Tool, Symphony X, Ayreon,
and Pain of Salvation, and I love them all except Tool who are alright.

I'd have to go with King Crimson....I love the Lake era albums, but I've never managed to truly enjoy the Wetton era.

I'll go with Marillion as well.
I don't really consider Styx to be prog.
