Hmm, haven't seen the film so I  compare it to pics from GongLi's filmographie.

Fourth Try: Terracota Warrior?

another clue for mine, the title has something to do with coloured sand, lots of sand!

Oh dear! This topic was nearly sinking!  Not "Terracotta Warrior", which I recall is a nice film too! This is not a fantasy film...

Last try: Qiu Ju goes to court?  I don't remember that she wore such pretty clothes in this film

mine was 'Deserto rosso' by M. Antonioni

Okay. Mine was "Temptation of a Monk". A very recommendable film set to 7th century China. Quite artsy film, the female diretor (Clara Law, was it?) told that she likes Andrei Tarkovski's style to film nature, and I think it is sawn on this film. Few very violent battle scenes there too, but it's not an action movie. I got it as an American DVD, but sadly it's not a very good version as the 16:9 picture is cutted to 4:3 ratio, so there's bits of picture missing from both sides.   The film has gotten better after several watchings, so I hope I'll find a decent version of it.

Hmm. I'm interested in European films, but there's lots for me discover in that scene yet! The title and the director are not (yet) familiar to me.

^   Not familiar to me.

Does anybody here know which old Europen film had some music by Miles Davis? He watched the scenes and improvised with his trupet over the film. I saw some sequences of it in some jazz document, and it seemed like an interesting film!

This one's an oldie, but quite renowned among "cult horror" fans...in fact, my dad said it used to scare him when he was young, but that it'd probably make me laugh:
