Throgh, it is very hard to spark off a discussion on paintings that, in the very words of the author, aren't supposed to be a representation of anything in this world, however 'distant' this representation might have been. Sure, one could read some of his work as symbolizing the triumph of Death etc., but I think that'd be an oversimplification. I think that, in a nutshell, he was out to create new worlds - but we would need a new language to discuss them, one probably akin to the Edgar Allan Poe's or one that might have been conceived by Bruno Schulz, had he not been murdered...
Man, that was pretentious, wasn't it ? But that's what I think of his paintings.

Pretentious, indeed. And very sophisticated grammar, "had he not been murdered".
Well, we could discuss the paintings in formal manner, just as art critics do, but I think it would be dull...
Coming back to topic, has anyone here on this forum heard "Moonshine" from Collage, the one with the cover which utilised Beksinski's painting? I think it is beautiful album, neo prog better than many non Polish bands. Cudze chwalicie, swego nie znacie... (nie żebym uprawiał "politykę historyczną" jak nowa władza).

Obvously, the name rings a bell, but unfortunately strikes no cord . I heard bits and pieces of the music of Collage and it seems I ought to get the big picture, because so far it has been a disappointment.
On the other hand I really like Satellite

 O Mr Szadkowski na tapecie!
Of course Collage has earned the reputation for being one of the best Polish progbands ever.. I must say, that Moonshine (with song Living in the Moonlight) is simply delicious ,'Fight' which was written in the memory of Tomasz Beksiński is also marvellous..
Robert Amirian has, say, unusual voice and sings so eagerly..
As for Satellite, last record- Evening Games has proved to be well-thought-out one. Take- 'Beautiful Word'(for Bieslan Childern)which is a kind of beautiful prayer and aims to stand up for terrorists..,
....
which doesn't mean, thaT I am not fond of
"A Street Between Sunrise and Sunset" (I would even say to the contrary- it's my best record when it comes to Satellite, since in the depth of my soul, I identify with It much more than with EG ) .
As far as covers are concerned- except Beksiński's illustration of 'Moonshine' I also find Wilkinson's work quite interesting.. (in "A Street Between Sunrise and Sunset") some say, that it looks like a kitch but don't lets be that realist

I post beksinskis' painting not for backing the thread but because I like them. It is better than writing empty posts ( not personal to anybody at all!). Sometimews I 'm pointing the discussion, sometimes I want sth different. I don't know what I want.
"I wanna be well" as Ramones sung. I asked about drugs because I've really wondered how it is? don't mention.
ok what for today of Beksinski? Let me see.....
maybe this olne

progmaniaczka really got the point - therefore we should be proud of our neoprog, especially Mr Szadkowski. Our bands cooperate with the best - Collage and Satellite with legendary Mr Wilkinson, Quidam and Skrzek with Camel. And could anyone tell me why, for heaven's sake, we are not included in Van Der Graaf Generator schedule, despite all these facts?

Progmaniaczka: Thank You for the kind words, now if only I could actually become a South Park character
And what's with those Polish neo-prog singers...I like the music in general, but I'm very sorry to say that I can't stand their singing styles... Robert Amirian, Adam Łassa, the new guy from Quidam... it's funny, I like Nick Barrett, (Fish does sometimes get on my nerves, though) Cedric Omar Rodriguez, most growling, even the guy from Pavlov's Dog and I really can't take the aformentioned, it doesn't matter if they sing in English or in Polish... I don't mind the guy from Satellite.
Throgh: Wolfspider ain't gonna like that new painting, it has a Tool ambience to it
Never heard Ulver. They're said to be very eclectic, is this true?

Ah. I knew there was a catch.
And if they really do change drastically from album to album, then what's the good of listening to one CD ?
