why  innapropriate?

Since opinions are held by the propogator to be objective, I say the thread is objectively useless and should thus be deleted

So are you saying you object to the objectivity, or the fact that it is objectively useless. Or is the thread in fact abject? 

Well there's nothing like a controversial view to still up a bit of debate. Apart from a couple of unnecessary personal comments (I see Tony has dealt with one), I think the discussion is actually rather intelligent and informed.

Opposites of opinion are fine, healthy in fact. Likewise subjectivity is good, just dealing in facts can be dull. We'll keep and eye on the thread, but at the moment I think it's fine (although I'm staying out of it).

Aaaaah, this kind of thing REALLY piss me off. Really. I think it's the thing that makes me mad easier. I simply HATE when someone says that music is not subjective, or that X must, necessarily, be better than Y (and he's not simply saying that. Well, I can say "yes sucks". But I can never say "Yes sucks, and THAT'S IT, you can't think differently". Using an other example, I can say "Genesis is better than Mariah Carey", but I can't never say "Genesis is better than Mariah Carey because it's MUSICALLY BETTER, and if you think other way, you should inform yourself"). There are NO SCIENTIFIC FACTORS that proves that one music is necessarily better than other. I remember there was a similar thread on this forum, that made me so mad, I just began "shooting" to every side.

Y'know...it looks (sounds?) to me like they're having a really heated debate over a Peter Gabriel concept, which, in itself, is dogmatic and overarching.  But...taste is subjective. 

This one is not following the guidelines...

— Les Moody Blues ne seront plus jamais aussi bons que leur 7 premiers disques, il faut en faire notre deuil. Pinder n'est plus là et ils ont raté leur coup avec le très moyen OCTAVE(**). Mais avec ce disque-ci ils ravivent les espoirs avec un nouveau son et de superbes chansons (The Voice , Talking out of Turn, Gemini Dream, Meanwhile, 22,000 Days, Veteran Cosmic Rocker). Talking out of Turn sera la dernière très bonne chanson de John Lodge. Désolé John...
