What is really funny is that you are amazed to find the so called "Prog' elite" in a place named Prog Archives, what you wanted to find here Britney fans?

This site was created by the Prog elite and for the Prog elite, if you don't want to find so many Prog snobs, you may go to the Backstreet Boys fan club or The Phil Collins Paradise.

I have a question. Can someone give me an authoratative definition of "prog elite?"

And... maybe someone can tell me if I am fortunate enough to qualify for such a title.

I shall list a few of my holdings, recant a few shows that I've seen, and define genres of non-prog music that I find most offensive......This should be a good starting point to determine how "prog-elite" I am.

Holdings:

A least 2/3 of the Frank Zappa Catalogue

Virtually all Yes, Moodies, ELP, Genesis (all eras), Steve Hackett, Univers Zero, Spock's Beard,     Henry Cow, The Flower Kings, classic PFM, classic Banco, Mike Oldfield, Pat Metheny, The Beatles (non-prog)

Many from Gong, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, Caravan, National Health, Hatfield and the North, Weather Report, Can, Tangerine Dream, Passport, Ange, Ozric Tentacles,Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, Melting Euphoria..........close to 2000 titles in all, 90+ % prog.

The Shows:

To name a few - Yes (10X), Moodies (4X), ELPalmer/Powell (3x), Genesis, Rundgren's Utopia, Stacastle, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd (3X)

Dislikes:

Hip-Hop/Rap, Death Metal, Country, Brittney/Madonna/Christina, etc...

Can someone please help me determine whether I belong here or not? Thanks.

ps.Hopefully this is not a repeated thread and if so, I apologize in advance.

^ it doesn't matter which albums you have or what shows you've been to. Just be ignorant and make fun of the music that you don't know or don't like, and soon people will deem you worthy of the title "prog elite".

You're definitely prog elite but with Ivan's quote taken out of the context of the rest of the thread, it's difficult to work out what it was all about.

Honestly, nobody who listens primarily to rock music (prog or otherwise) has any business considering themselves part of a "musical elite."

Forgive me, but what is AWP?

(I definitely have no more chance of joining the prog elite )

^ AWP is a sniper gun from the computer game Counter Strike: Source. People who use them too often (or in inappropriate situations) are often called n00bs (especially by people who got pwned by them).

The question is: What is the "AWP" of a prog n00b? I guess it's a combination of Yes/Genesis/King Crimson.

In mathematics, an elite is a small number of data. Since "small" depend on the size of the original sample, supposing that the sample could be mankind, the prog elite is composed of all people posting in Prog archives.
