Good Evening Everyone.

I have taken the plunge and entered the world of eBay. I have been looking for Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun and have noticed that there are two versions of the cover. One has the group and album titles close to the eyeline of the boy and the other has no text.  I notice on the PA site album image that it has the text. I have also heard that there are some dodgy counterfeit copies in circulation. Eg on Stupid Dream the counterfeit version has green lettering when none should exist. Is this the same for LS? I must say that the text version doesn't really look right. Please advise.

Thanks

The answer is that the original issue has a transparent plastic slip that slides over the jewel case.  It is on this transparent slip that the artist and title are printed.  Some eBay users scan the whole thing with the slipcover intact, while others scan without.  It goes without saying that some of those who scan without no longer have the slipcover.  (To be honest, I don't remember if I have mine.  Doesn't really matter to me since I won't be selling it anytime soon.)

I've thrown away many paper covers around jewel cases of limited editions ... but I wouldn't do that if there's a special effect involved, like transparency. The only album in my collection which uses something like that is Tool's Lateralus.

Hotbelly

Me too. What do you do with the promotional material inserts? I tend to keep them, especially InsideOut label stuff. You can see how releases progress over the years. Sad I know
