I'm currently listening to the cocteau Twins. It would seem that they would be a welcome addition on this site, probably in prog related. I visited that part of the archives (add new bands) where there was an in depth list of procedures to follow to add the band. Unfortunately all that is beyond me so if there are any other CT admirers out there ?

There stands Olias to outward to build a ship
Holding within all we hope to retain
The frame will be so built to challenge the universe
Clasped with the skins of the fish of the plain

You must be joking, they are ambient pop at the best, lets add Enya and Yanni OK?

Hey now, Yanni and the Cocteau Twins in the same category???  I like the Cocteau Twins, but no, they don't belong here

Not the same category, CT are better, but both are ambient pop.

Well lets make a category called Ambient Pop
There stands Olias to outward to build a ship
Holding within all we hope to retain
The frame will be so built to challenge the universe
Clasped with the skins of the fish of the plain

Please no more categories and sub genres  The current obsession with categorising music is unhealthy, and is an indicator that some people around here need to find something else to do with their time.

The Cocteau Twins are a great band. I've always liked them. 'Heaven or Las Vegas' is my favourite album. Liz Fraser has an excellent and unique voice. I really dont think they have any place here though.

..oh, and the day Enya is listed in the archives is the day I leave...

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Couldn't agree more Blacksword. Heaven or Las Vegas is brilliant, but there is no way the Twins are prog.

Enya?

ambient pop?

I guess as long as there are two more words to put together, we'll have an infinite supply of meaningless categories (I'm still waiting for Death Reggae and Flamenco Punk).

The Cocteau Twins are hands-down my favorite band, but I'd never suggest adding them. Aside from whether the sound fits the site or not, I have no wish to read what many people would write about them. Sooner or later some idiot would start a nasty thread (along the same lines as some of the anti-Radiohead threads) and then I'd have to find them, kill them, and feed their guts to rabid wolverines. I just don't have that kind of time on my hands.
