Coldplay should NOT be added to any prog site!!!

They're a decent POP rock band, though.

Yeah, I'm an honest person.

"Progressive disco band " ????....Jajajajaja.     Now, THAT IS FUNNY ¡¡¡¡.

Prog fans must stop thinking what band should be added to the genre. Or one day I´ll be reading reviews on Black Sabath´s one-idea-per-song-albums in this site.

I like Coldplay, good band...but they shouldnt be here....

But then, neither should Radiohead, Opeth, voivod...etc etc...

Coldplay's use of keyboards certainly out progs Radiohead.

Oh, wait, Black sabbath and Venom, they are two that should be here also...

Death metal? Long songs? concept albums...yep Venom has em all.

Actually for that matter, so does Elton John and Chicago...

Anyone get my point yet?

Yes, isn't Radiohead "alternative rock"? Though I must say they've been getting very experimental...but still, prog? Hmm...

Face it, if you like Coldplay, SoaD, Franz Ferdinand, etc, etc, then you like mass-marketed talentless drivel. Just accept that you're easily pleased, and be comfortable with it, so you don't have to try and validate it or justify your tastes.

I'm the same way, when my brain hurts from complicated music, sometimes I sit back and enjoy a nice slice of the mass-marketed talentless drivel known as Rammstein. I don't pretend they're a mature band..

Coldplay is in fact a great pop band, with their catchy, mellow and simple tunes. I think they are a good choice for proggers tired of complexity...

There are prog elements in Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and "Blue Moves". Chicago (I, II, III and half VII) is certainly as prog as Deep Purple, Queen or Black Sabbath, in a different subgenre (jazz-prog? Frontier-prog?).

Boy ¡¡. that piano and drum intro in "Clocks" is pure prog ¡¡. Yes, Coldplay must be in this site ¡¡¡

...You see ?...Please stop wondering what should be prog or not. When something is prog it sounds and feels as progressive rock, not like anything else.

For that reason we have all these Canterbury movement bands all around with their flat classic rock music making me feel I still have too much to listen to about prog. Then when I finally get them, I feel like I´ve lost time looking for them.

What is Queen doing in this site?, Queen II has a small song near the end with some little details that could belong to a standard prog album. So what?. Having Queen in this site just turns them from a great Rock pop band, into a mediocre prog band. Something worse would happen to Coldplay and many others if they were considered prog.

You know. I used to feel the same thing about pop. ..Now I don´t consider making good and catchy pop is a proof of lack of talent. At all.

If that was true, The Beatles would have to be considered talentless. And They wrote and performed beautiful, exciting and very interesting music. Pop music that was nowhere near of being talentless. "Elenor rigby" could be considered very simple and whatever you might say. Still, it required of a lot of talent to make it that enjoyable. The same I could say about dozens of pop songs of the 80´s which I love.

Pop and prog are just different, and they are consumed in different ways. Both enjoyable as they are and for what they are. Some of us may find more pleasure listening to music when it is prog, but that doesn´t necesarily make the music better. Better for what?. Would a christmas song be crap just for not being Prog?. Would you sing "Locomotive Breath" in front of the neighbor´s door. ?

Let´s add Coldplay like a Prog-pop band. There´s "new age-prog" with vangelis. I see canterbury´s classic rock too. I see phsiquedelic prog....there are so many pseudo prog bands that coldplay should be awarded a new prog label; PROG-POP. Just for that piano and drum intro in "clocks", pure beauty.

Hey,come on..They've got nothing to do with them...Coldplay is not a band based on the beauty of each member...They are focused on the music..And they've done some great albums too...Anyway,this may be my opinion. But i 'm sure that many agree with me...
