Topic: Messing up threads Posted: September 08 2005 at 12:48 |
I know that many may say that its a pot calling the kettle black, but this thread, to me, is going too far! I like a bit of fun, byt this thread has been ruined!
Its like when the teacher leaves the room..

My poor thread, I just tried to make a decent keyboard player poll, and this is how they repay me! Ungrateful kids!

As I recall there hav been some keyboard threads allready in the history of progarchives... And btw, the thread was about 2 die, becouse all the interested people allready posted in it.. Ow, And aren't polls used to vote in them, and not 2 write "Jordan Rudess is the best!" all the time? You ca still vote in the poll, and see the votes, so its as a healthy poll as can be! And Damien, You helped 2 ruin the thread Yourself. I have evidence

^ I disagree, I was about to comment, but didn't bother because the thread was such a tragic mess!

I agree with you Snowy. Its ok to do this in the mariah thread, and I'been known to do that myself but normal threads should be kept chean and on topic

Children are taking over.
I think the once-funny Mariah thread has been ruined too, by pointless "see how many posts I can make" boy-babble, those irritating, endless quote pyramids, and piles of emoticons.
Rant over.

I understand how you feel Peter, there is an obvious "post race", its no secret, but as long as endless Smiley posting reamains in Mariah and similar "fun" threads, I don't really see a problem.
Speech over!

Only "fun" for the participants though -- not for anyone else!

You may be right Peter, sometimes the Mariah Carrey thread seems like nothing more than a chatroom!
Leave 'em to it, I reckon.
But this is why I'm so annoyed that its crossing over into serious threads!

^ Too bad it wasn't their thread....
Yes, people should stay on topic -- how about them mellotrons, eh?
I agree, though -- much of the posting is becoming VERY infantile.

The mariah thread is indeed a chatroom nowadays, but mostly a fairly inteligent one. The smiley spam isn't really that frequent. And when it happens, its not led by children. Cyg MWH, and Bj are the best at it, and I wouldn't call the first two children. 18 and 17 isn't a quite a child anymore. I'm 17 myself.

I wasn't going to name names myself, but the children tag is relative I guess. To older members you are, or behave like children sometimes, maybe!
As I said though, all this is fine in its place, but some younger members are starting to say "New Page" on every thread!!!!

sorry for names Someone will always say "new page", young or old. I know some much older members who do it. Velvy, for iexample, started the tradition, he's no child

no, "new page" is a mariah thread tradition. Who does it in other threads?

and what's the big deal with post counts? its who you are, not how many posts you have that defines a person IMO

Please don't Velv!!
Actually Snowie and Peter, I was rolling on the floor with laughter at how Smileys were abused!!
Or Should I say.....
Thanks for the early morning laugh for if you had not complained about this , I probably would have never read it.
EEEEEHHHHHMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!............
This Scandalous behaviour must stop!
How's this???
But you are right though! A perfectly good poll should not be deviated into open derision.
