Been tripping on some OHM: lately and man do these guys kick ass or what. Are there any other similar bands that I should be checking out ?

OHM is friggin' awesome - ever seen 'em live? Chris Poland has one of the best legato techniques I've ever heard. Seems like all those ex-metal shredders are moving into fusion these days (MacAlpine with Planet X, even Alex Skolnick's playing bebop!)

I'd recommend checking out the fusion section of this site. And also, Mike Keneally if you haven't heard him yet...

And of course Tribal tech, if you've never heard them.

well maybe not quite bebop, but something very akin to mainstream jazz - while using Ozzie Osbourne and Scorpions' tunes......

And you should check out Steve Vai playing Indo-jazz fusion on Brit Surinder Sandhu's album Sarang Orchestra - and jamming there with one of Carla Bley's favourite jazz saxophonists Andy Shepherd.

Check out Alex McHacek on BPM: Delete and Roll or the Scott McGill, Michael Manring, Vic Stevens albums, Controlled by Radar (2 CD) or Addition by Subtraction.

Another would be Shawn Lane, Jonas Hellborg, Kofi Baker's Abstract Logic.

Kofi Baker's Karizma and Mojo Tapestry with Brett Garsed.

Allan Holdsworth's All Night Wrong.

The usual excellent run of recommendations Dan B - don't forget Buckethead in acoustic guitar jazz mode on Octave of the Holy Innocents with Hellberg and Mike Shrieve.

(Occassional Steely Dan sessioner), Wayne Krantz anybody? - e.g. Two Drink Minimum. Krantz so distrusts the record industry you'll have to go to his website to purchase - but he'll talk with you.

Another East Coast based guitarist is David Fuze Fuiczynski - either his first solo (wild and brilliant takes on Chick Corea, Hendrix, Sousa...), and the jazz rock/soul/funk of Screaming Headless Torsos (all albums and the DVD - start with 2nd, live album) - go to the Fuselicious Morsels website to order.

And I guess  two excellent albums need to be mentioned : Come Together: A Beatle Tribute Vols 1 and 2, (NYC label), which are who's who of  excellent guitarists. Both Fuzes and Krantz's separate take on TNK (Volume 2), are likely to  knock you out.

I was just recently able to listen to this cd and loved it.I have only heard Chris Poland's playing with Megadeth(saw him with them on the Peace Sells....... tour too),and was amazed by how good he sounded on this cd,playing something other than thrash.
