Not that anyone has ever heard of these guys, but I purchased a cd by Azureth this year and they were just awful.

It sounds like they tried sooooo hard to sound progressive and cool and all that came out of their efforts were cheese

Worse yet were their very silly lyrics. About dragons and such and it was so contrived and poor it just made me want to retch.

Then they had these narratives in-between their tunes that were so corny one couldn't help roll your eyes at this tripe.

I have actually given the cd away to Danbo to subject him to the torture I went through..He agreed wholeheartedly with me on this one. He was thinking of sending it as a 'gift' to Tony R for all the times he has harrassed everyone on this forum. Recieving this monstrosity would be worse than getting a bag of stinking poo in your mailbox.

You guys should buy this to see how bad this is....on second thought, no you shouldn't.

Flowerchild,

OK, the music's not that bad but Peter Hamill has the worst voice ever. I'd much prefer to listen to Geddy Lee & that's saying something!

Robert Fripp once said: "Peter Hammill is the greatest singer alive. His voice is like an instrument. He's one of the few singers I find worthwhile to work with". Reconcider! Peter Hammill is above most singers and he needs rethinking and time to grow.

ps I know Geddy Lee.

Personally, I feel no one touches Hammill's voice as far a s quality. Once again proof that there is no in between with him. You either love his voice or hate it. I love it.

He is simply the Jimi Hendrix of the Voice to me.

I just been over to VDG web site & listened to some MP3's. I'm sorry but Peter Hammill's voice sounds just as bad as I remembered it

Sorry I listen to Greg Lake... and then I listen to Pete Hammill.... Pete's voice makes me want to rip people's throats out.... basically starting with him.

THe music can be good... but that voice just causes violence...

The worst Prog band? I'd say Tool, Radiohead or The Mars Volta.

Personally...I do find his voice to be maniacal...that's why I love it. His voice brings forth all sorts of different emotions in me...mostly anger and a hankering for a bit of the ultra violence....but that is also contributed to the fact that most of VdGG's material is rather dark.
