Meh, just wondering. It's a great poll, I know, you don't need to congratulate me...

Zappa was vehemently anti drugs all his life, although the same could not be said for his audience.
Aside from Syd Barrett, it appears that Floyd weren't much into drugs except maybe the odd spliff, although again their audience contained loads of stoners.

Zappa's anti-hippie/druggy tirades were a gas.....any stoner would get a huge kick out of the 1st Zappa record....borderline comedy LP.

What about Kratrock bands? I think they are most "drug oriented", sometimes too much perhaps.

Zappa WASN'T on drugs?!!!
I'm impressed, the music he makes sounds like the result of a few years of constantly taking every drug in sight.
Does anyone know about Captain Beefheart? Trout Mask Replica is one of the trippiest, strangest albums i've ever heard. Brilliant as it may be, he must have been on something!

I hear that hawkwind (and to a lesser extent Lemmy Kilminster), are constantly on drugs.
Rumour has it that Lemmy has his very own blood type after he mutated because of all the drug abuse.
Also The Mars Volta are currently sober but spent about half their life stoned.

This always reminds me Cream! They were so heavily on drugs that they would forget the song they are playing and would just jam until they succeed to remember!
I had a good laugh at that one when I first read it!

PF of course!
Zappa is a bad example cause he was one of the very rare prog rock's musician to be against drugs, even weed!
(whereas he was a heavy coffee drinker and smoked tobacco)
On the other hand, i'm pretty sure the mothers were drug users!

As PROGMAN says, Floyd denies that they were drug-induced, so to speak. Of course, Barrett was. I'm referring to the core Floyd.
