I would've been like "wtf" if I didn't realise how pathetic the elitism
is here. If Radiohead, The Fire Theft, and Queen are more prog than
this band, then .

knowledge is knowing Coheed and Cambria are progressive. wisdom is knowing not to add them to the archives. (at least not until new genres are inroduced where Coheed and Cambria might fit in). |

I'm sure man overboard mentioned this, but there is a personal vendetta against this band on the Archives.

coheed fit already. a new sub-genre doesn't need to be created.

Where? I'd suggest Art-Rock - but not really. Experimental Rock? Doesn't fit either. |

they're more art rock than anything, IMO. hell, as long as they eventually get added, I don't care. perhaps create a sci-fi prog or prog-emo sub-genre if you have to!!

I've YSI'd a few of my peresonal favourite songs for people to listen
to, because I have a feeling the band gets a bad rap for their singles
and such. Download them if you like. The file sizes might be a little
big because the songs are pretty long.
In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth [10:18/9.44MB] 2113 [9:46/13.4MB] The Camper Velourium [14:31/13.3MB] The Willing Well II - From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness [7:28/9.45MB] And of course you can stream "Welcome Home" on the new album's official website. Have any of the (few) fans here seen the animated shorts on MTV yet? I've had no luck. I think it might have been on yesterday though. Can anyone tell me about them? Edited by Syrinx |

2113 is quite nice - quite presumptuous of them to pick that name. They're certainly very sure of themselves. |

It was a hidden track, a slight nod to Rush, but it thematically fits the song. |

I see ... in that case it's ok. I'll do some advertising for them in the collabs area ... |

Well, it looks like the label screwed it up again. I was happy that
they picked a song like Welcome Home as the single for the new album,
because it actually represents their sound. The new single, however, is
poppier and will most likely seem like the black sheep of the new album
like A Favor House Atlantic and Blood Red Summer. It even has the
obnoxous "hey hey"s from Blood Red Summer.
The band says it's Queen-inspired, but I say it's a mediocre radio-friendly pop track. Not enjoying it. Download it here, if you dare. The Suffering EDIT: Link got messed up...just re-did it. Edited by Syrinx |

I made a thread on their official message board for this, but it kind
of got ignored...just thought I'd post here just in case anyone was
curious. It's about their logo and its meaning...
The band's logo and an important part of their concept, the Keywork basically represents the world in which Coheed and Cambria's story takes place. Discussed briefly in the intro to the Second Stage Turbine Blade comic book, it is revealed that the Keywork is a force that holds the universe together. Below is a diagram of what each shape represents: The large Star Transformers also represent the dwellings of the races of Man, the Prise, and the Mages. Edited by Syrinx |

To all:
I was the one that started this whole mess by recommending Coheed and Cambria to the archives in the first place. While i personally believe that I did a more than sufficient job in describing them positively to ensure their inclusion, I graciously thank all of those who are also on my side and fighting to get them put on. Thanks to all for helping me out, and I'm not giving up anytime soon! |

Personally, I think it'll happen the moment the album hits... any more leaked tracks?

Regarding The Suffering, there's a vocal melody that's SO familiar,
from another Co&Ca track... it's gotta be an obvious
reference, now lemme think... yeah, it's from Three Evils
(Embodied In Love And Shadow)... think it's purposeful?

While Coheed does revisit musical themes from eariler albums ( 2113
revisits TIme COnsumer and I, Robot from the first album), I do not
think that the chrous line in The Suffering is meant to be the same as
the outro verse in Three Evils, as the rhythms and vocal lines are
slightly different. I do see where you're coming from, though, as upon
first listen I wa slike "whoa....sounds familiar." The only intentional
theme, I believe, were the shouting "Hey, hey"s of the girls, exactly
the same sound sample used in Blood Red Summer

The second animated short featuring the song "Ten Speed (Of God's Blood
and Burial)" is out. Song sounds alright, but I was more interested in
the video. It seems to deal with Claudio Killgannon (not the vocalist,
the character in the story) not being able to come to terms with the
fact that he is The Crowing.
For anyone that can't understand what the voices are saying: [At the beginning, while Claudio is looking stressed, and Jesse (the Prise Fighter Inferno), is standing behind him] Claudio: "I'm afraid, Jesse...I'm afraid I'm not who you think I'm supposed to be." [While it's showing clips of Chase holding Jesse's hand] Weird voice: "It's no question, young Killgannon. It is in your name that you will bring forth the coming of the end." [At the end] Weird voice: "You will soon come to accept it...you are The Crowing." Download it here. |
