hmmm so you have I, 3, 4 - yes?
Those are his best IMO.
I'd get So (1986) which is poppy but one of his most enjoyable records.
or Plays Live (1983) which is a nice close-out to his firist four albums which you basically have

Me I suggest you the last one "Growing up", It's one of my favourite and I've been very surprised by this record. And I've see also the tour live at Montréal, Qc, Canada. Peter Played 2 evenings and it was a amazing concert with a central stage.

My favourite has always been PG II, and I've never been sure why. Anyway, PG II seems to stand out as a detour from other albums he's done. So, for something a little atypical of his overall catalog, I'd heartily recommend it.
It contains on of the coolest tunes I've ever heard, "Mother of Violence". Very moody piece.

Those are the ones I have too, but I also have So. It isn't bad, but it can't be compared to 1,3 and 4. You should get it anyhow.

My personal favorites are I-IV, Plays Live, and UP. They showcase his moody mysteriousness the best I feel.

Go for the second (Scratch)! It is my least favourite of the four but it is nice to have the quartet all packed up. "So" is good art-pop-soul for daily listen while "Passion" is a masterpiece of ambient world-fusion of Oriental sounds.

Quite right.Gabriel has a charm in every album. When I listen to
Gabriel,I don't bother to think this is better than that, that is worse
than this.It is Gabriel in every album and that is what it counts...
